Behaviour

What are we doing to discipline our July babies?
I’m starting to really struggle with certain behaviours. My little boy has a thing for pulling hair and biting. He does it to myself and other children. No matter how much I tell him it’s not kind and it hurts ect he’s just not processing it.
I come from a school background and we used to do warnings and time out. I wouldn’t know how to implement this with him though as he wouldn’t sit still and listen it would make the situation harder. I feel he’s too young for this yet. I also don’t want to use his bed/bedroom/highchair ect and make that become a “bad or naughty” association.

I know he’s young and it’s just a phase but I want him to learn that certain actions are not okay. He’s doing this to other children too which isn’t fair.

I'm struggling too with my daughter. She's started hitting and throwing things around when she doesn't get what she wants. I have started sitting her down every time she does it but I'm not sure she actually understands. A lot of literature suggests that this phase is normal and they will grow out of it, we just have to persevere with the sitting or telling them no.

If it’s with other children I usually say “no don’t hit, we use gentle hands with our friends” more for the other child’s benefit (knowing that I have acknowledged the behaviour) and if it keeps happening remove them from playtime. If it’s with me I don’t react and just make myself unavailable to him physically and don’t engage with him for a bit. Then when he’s playing nicely and gently I praise him for it. It’ll stop eventually if you consistently reinforce the boundary. It’s if there’s inconsistency in the way you deal with it that it might persist.

Wrong or no?

We are first time parents, living in a two bedroom with another couple so our privacy is VERY limited. Is it wrong to be intimate in the bedroom while the 10 month old sleeps? Or is it horrendously disturbing?

Being pressured on having a second child

Baby girl is only 7 weeks and my MIL is pressuring me to have a second. I’m content with one. We never thought we could have children so it’s amazing to have baby here now. I’m an only child and I turned out okay. There also plays the fact of time and finances. We have dogs and an apartment.

When did your kids start calling you “mom” instead of “mama” or “mommy”?

My kid isn’t even 4 and sometimes calls me mom. :( I correct her most the time because she is an actual baby, and she seems so big saying mom

Nervous about breastfeeding in public or in front of extended family / friends

I've just given birth to our 2nd baby, who is breastfed. Our 1st was formula fed so this is my first time navigating breastfeeding in front of other people.

She's only a few days old so the only other people we've seen are our parents. However it's playing on my mind about how many visitors we'll have in the coming weeks and also when we start going out again to cafes, shops etc

I think I'm just still new to it and not totally confident yet, as well as being a shy person anyways, I just don't know how I'll do it.
How do you navigate breastfeeding? Is it worth investing in all the clothes etc that have the zippers to discreetly get your breast out? Do you go into a different room? Baby can feed for a long time atm so I wonder if people feel awkward leaving visitors etc for long periods of time?

i didn’t realize how much this part of her hair would need attention

has anyone else noticed dryness in the back of their baby’s hair?

this used to be the hardest area for me to manage, and i honestly didn’t think much of it at first

i started focusing more on moisture and consistency and i’m finally seeing a difference

now it’s softer, shinier, and holding moisture so much better

i’ve been documenting her progress and sharing more on instagram as i figure things out 🤍
