WFH + Childcare

For those that don’t send their child to nursery or childcare, how do you manage? We don’t want to put our 20 month old in to nursery yet (plus we don’t qualify for free funding nor can we afford nursery fees or other childcare costs anyway).

At the moment, my Mum just retired. I will be starting a new job end of the month that requires 3 days a week in office and my partner just got a new job 2 weeks ago that requires him in office 5 days a week.

When I start my new job, my Mum has agreed to take our daughter Sunday night - Tuesday night so I can go into the office 2 days a week. Not sure how to manage the rest of the week 🥲

Currently I go into the office twice a month. I drop my daughter off to my in laws for 1pm Tuesday and Wednesdays. By the time I get back home its 2pm and Ill work till 6/7. My Mum then had her Thursdays (her day off). And Ill wfh and look after baby girl Mon and Fri. The wfh and looking after baby is not sustainable as I dont get any work done. My new job is a step up in my career and will require a lot more work and responsibility. I’m super grateful for the opportunity but not oblivious to how hard this new change will be.

Any advise?

It's not sustainable at all. I do it at the moment with my 21month old and have been doing it since I returned to work from maternity leave. I'm going on maternity leave with my second and will be putting my first into nursery part time from August, so I get a bit of a break. I don't get funding either until he is 3-4 for 15hrs which is the eligibility for all parents. Try looking at pre-schools, they are cheaper but hours are from 9am to 3pm ish or childminder or nanny.

Consider a local childminder as they tend to be cheaper than nursery’s usually. All the best x

Nothings changed

My husband’s life has not changed one bit since having a baby meanwhile my whole life has changed. He comes and goes as he pleases, goes out with friends, showers when he wants, eats when he wants, goes to the bathroom when he wants. He owns a business so he’ll work and then just do as he pleases with zero consideration of the fact Ive been home alone with a baby all day. One time I up and left to try and teach him a lesson. I was gone for one hour and sat in a parking lot drinking coffee. He called me 3 times and texted me 2 times within that hour.. yet he didn’t learn his lesson. What else can I do?

Weaponize incompetence

Hi! My husband didn’t change our baby diaper.
So after dinner , I take the kids outside to run off extra energy.
Well the 1 year old was still eating so I had asked dad to change him, put a shirt on him and bring him outside. Ok so he handed baby to me (outside ) and his diaper was full of poop. And I said “why didn’t you change him?” He said “it’s a gift for you!”
I rolled my eyes and wanted to scream!

Nursery Funding

Hi everyone. I am getting really confused about nursery funding. My husband works part time and I am also working part time. I have been telling my husband to apply for funding as I don’t know much for the last few months but he doesn’t seem to be bothered and every time he comes with some new reason. He said we can’t get free funding for nursery because our earning is more than £16000 a year. Is it true. My baby is already two. Please anyone guide me🙏. Also can someone please tell me the process how can I apply for funding hours??

Husband has bad higene

Do any of yall struggle with your husbands higene ?! Anytime I try to talk to him about it , it turns into a fight but i am so disgusted . He absolutely refuses to brush his teeth and the only way I ever get him to do it is when my toddler tells him to brush his teeth with her . And he is a mechanic and gets covered in grease everyday and doesnt want to take a shower when he gets home . He always says he is to tired and he will do it later . Sometimes its 2 -3 days without showering and every surface in the home ends up with grease smears and the pillows / blankets are all stained and nasty . Intimacy has come to a complete stop and i dread even going to bed because it grosses me out . He is an amazing husband and father and works so hard for me to be a stay at home mom but I seriously dont know what to do about this . I've tried talking and bringing it up nonchalantly but he immediately gets defensive which just pisses me off and turns into an argument . Hes never been the best at keeping up with himself but the past year has just gotten so bad and I dread even kissing him 😭

Potty training

My 2.5 yr old is potty training but her little sister (1) will not stop coming in the bathroom. Should I just try to train her as well or wait? What are others experience with this?
