I have a 4-week-old baby and I’m mostly breastfeeding, with the occasional top-up bottle here and there.
My little one absolutely loves a dummy, which I was quite hesitant to introduce because I’d heard it can interfere with breastfeeding. So far though, his latch seems good, he’s feeding well, and I’m careful not to give the dummy when he’s actually hungry.
The only thing is, after feeds it’s often the only thing that settles him off to sleep.
Does anyone else use a dummy while breastfeeding? I can’t help feeling like I’m breaking all the “rules”! 🙈

We used a dummy.
Like you I was very hesitant.
I think it was around the 4-5week mark that we introduced one.
It hasn't affected her latch.
I felt sometimes I was being used for comfort rather than feeding, which was lovely but I also needed to sleep.
We used it to settle her but would keep an eye on feeding windows.
I now keep it just for bedtime and not to have it all the time.
She sleeps without it a lot of the time.
Keep an eye out for breastfeeding friendly dummies - I think they're flatter ?

My baby girl is 5 weeks old and I do the same as you , breast and formula top up . I use the dummy to soothe her to sleep. She will spit it out when she s fallen asleep. I also used it with my son who will be 2 next month and he s all good. Just do what you think is best. Xx

I breastfed until 7 and a half months and just recently weaned.
We used a dummy from the beginning and it had no impact on his feeding 😊
