Has anyone here used a modified Ferber method (3–5–10 check-ins)?
My son is 4 months old and I’m starting to look into gentle ways to help him learn to fall asleep in his crib. I’ve seen people mention doing timed check-ins (3 mins, then 5, then 10, etc.), but I’m not sure if he’s too young or how others have found it.
If you’ve tried this:
• How old was your LO when you started?
• What was your experience like?
• Did it actually help with settling/longer stretches?
• Any tips or things you’d do differently?
Would really appreciate hearing real experiences! Feeling a bit overwhelmed with sleep at the moment 🥺💕
(We have tried DBA, Pick-Up-Put-Down). Currently co-sleeping every night and contact naps. Since 2 months, he cries regardless when being cradle-held to sleep, so it’s a matter of crying vs crying. Other than that, he has a chill temperament.

We did full on Ferber with my second kid at 4.5 months and it was a life saver. We were sleeping in separate rooms, each getting 4-5 hrs of sleep for almost half a year. After 4 days, we had a kid who gave us a 8 - 10 hour stretch because he learned how to put himself down when he woke up middle of night.
We plan on doing the same with our newest one once he’s 4-5 months.
