Colostrum harvesting

Going to try and collect my colostrum for the first time tonight.
My nipples have leaked colostrum for a fair while now however only just hit 37 weeks.
Please can I have people’s tips and tricks to have a successful harvest.

(Am aware I might not get much the first few times just want it to be a comfortable experience)

Thank you xx

Following this! I’m 38 weeks and I feel like I’m not doing a good job. :(

I started collecting at 37 weeks too, got nothing really on day 1 &2, but day 3 onwards I’ve been able to collect some. It’s a slow process, having to collect it drop by drop, and I’ve never managed to fill the whole 1ml syringe in a day so far. The max I’ve done is 0.9ml over a 24hr period before freezing it. I do it like 2 or 3 times a day, for about 10 mins every time. And slowly i can see that the amount i’m producing is increasing each day. So my advice is be pateint, as it takes time, and don’t worry too much if you’re not able to collect much or get anything at all. Doesn’t mean it will be the same after you give birth, so don’t put too much pressure on yourself!

I'd definitely suggest a warm shower or at least warm flannel on your boobs before doing it. Works a treat for me and then I just like knead the boob area with my knuckles before hand expressing. First attempt I only got 0.5ml but I've since been doing it at least twice a day and getting 1ml both times 🥰 I'm 41 weeks and it's been fine, just don't be disheartened and don't pull the syringe too far up or down as losing it is heartbreaking!

Warmth on my breast before hand 100% makes it easier. I have breast heat/ice pads that I just chuck in the microwave to make warm and put it in my bra for 5 mins before. I do regular small breaks when the droplets stop coming as easily.

At first I literally got just a few drops, but now i get 0.5 ml per session (that's from one boob, my other one is a total slacker). I combine my two syringes at the end of the day to get a full 1ml syringe then freeze

Changing newborn a second time post feed?

(Formula fed baby) - Our newborn is usually changed and then fed in the middle of the night but recently as they’re drinking more, they tend to then need changing a second time post feed as we can hear them 💩 half way through. We’ve found changing them the second time then stops them going down after the feed. Is there anything we can do to help them go down after? What do others doing in this case? Would you feed more?

Bras!

Hey all, I’m in my first trimester (almost 10
Weeks) with my first pregnancy and my boobs have been so painful and every day they feel heavier. I am still currently wearing my usual bra and bra size but at what point do you change bra sizes? And how do you know how big they need to be? Do you have to get new bras every few months?

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you 🥰

8 week vaccines

Anyone else feel like they have a different baby after 8 week jabs? He had a temp and was fine the following day but since then we have had a week of him looking grumpy and screaming crying because he’s fighting sleep during the day. But sleeps fine at night 🙈 wondering it’s it’s just a phase or related to his jabs.

9 week old

My LO had very pee in night yesterday. Otherwise it’s like 2-3 wet diapers at night. But yesterday it was one diaper with very small blue line.
Has anyone else experienced this?
Does their wee reduce at night?

Wake windows

How long are your LO’s wake windows? My 4 week old can be awake 2-3 hours at a time which seems a bit long to me, my first borns’ wake windows were up to an hour at this age

Wake up time

What time do your kids wake up? I’m a SAHM and I can get my daughter (15mo) to bed by 9:30 and she still can sleep 12hrs!
Most the time though it’s by 10:30, mainly due to her nap runs late. I only ask because I see things like this and get soo sad on what our schedule has us miss out on..
Even if she woke up at 8am we still got breakfast and getting ready which take us about an hr and a half on a bad day.

I’m not looking for advice on how to change anything. I just want to know if any toddlers are actually up that early 🤣😭
