No early scan

I feel like a minority of people who haven’t had an early scan and don’t have one booked in… it didn’t seem like a huge deal in my last pregnancy but this time round it’s allll I’m seeing on here and with others pregnant too.

I’m worried to get one and worried to not get one. Just wanted to know if I’m as alone in this position as I feel?

Saw my midwife on Monday and she even said they don’t give you much information other than you’re pregnant and said your tests told you this too.

Not sure what to do as not made of money but also I would like the reassurance.

Anyone else out there feeling the same?

This is my second pregnancy. I did it for my first, but I'm not getting an early scan for this one unless needed x

I was unsure at first and wondered if it was all a bit unnecessary but after speaking to friends I decided I'd like that reassurance as 12 weeks is a long time to wait.
With Window to the Womb it cost £65 for a viability scan, at 8 weeks I could see a heartbeat, the baby's head, body and limbs- plus you get to confirm how many are growing in there and that it's all in the right place!

I found it reassuring and worth the cost but totally understand it might feel a bit overboard, if you're good waiting til week 12 and you've no concerns then no pressure x

With my first pregnancy I didn’t have any early scans, I just waited for my 12 week one. However, since having my son we have had multiple losses so now full of anxiety so we have had 2 early scans so far. That’s purely due to the losses, otherwise we would have just waited. Some places have deals here and there so might be worth looking for that, if you’d like to find a cheaper option x

It’s called a reassurance scan. They can tell you if there is a heartbeat, if the embryo is positioned correctly and if the size aligns with your dates. I previously had a missed miscarriage and only found out at 7 weeks on an early scan. Otherwise I may not have found out until 12 weeks

I didn’t have an early scan with my first, only NHS ones. I had an early scan in my 2nd pregnancy and they had confirmed a miscarriage, so that was the reason I had one this time round (3rd pregnancy)! Just wanted to make sure everything was okay. I wouldn’t have bothered otherwise x

I'm only having early scans because of recurrent miscarriages and complications. There's a lot of anxiety this time round 😕 x

I am also wondering whether to get one either. I am unsure whether the cheaper ones (less than 100) are actually done by certified doctors/can deliver bad news well alongside the good (have read reviews online that a lot of these high screen sonographers are not equipped). But the more expensive ones with doctors (200+) seem a bit too expensive. I’m 8 weeks and wondering whether to book.

I’m only doing an early scan because myselg and my partner have waited so long to be blessed with this one - but if we were to have a second I don’t think we would have an early scan

Second pregnancy and haven’t had any private scans, it is hard to wait but it just feels like a lot of money for us right now. My scan isn’t until 13+1 either so feels even longer!

Thanks for all the comments on this. I am so in two minds, I want to of course. But it’s the money factor and also the fact im scared as to what they’ll say

Iv had reassurance scans in both pregnancies. The first one because I had bleeding/spotting and then this time because it felt like so long between that positive test and the NHS scan! And then at 6 weeks we found out it was twins and so we got a second scan yesterday at 9+4 as it all feels a bit higher risk with two?
At the end of the day it’s up to you and what would increase or decrease your anxiety. Some people prefer not knowing and others like to have all the information possible! My local clinic is £79 for a scan and it’s a sonographer who works in the NHS too so very experienced

Emergency c section ( back pain)

I’m 6 months pp and since my daughter has been born I’ve been struggling with intense back pain radiating down to my knees . I’ve been referred for physio by my GP but it’s a 15 week wait list … the pain is getting so bad it’s keeping me up at night . Just wondering if any other mamas have experienced the same thing ?

Question for mums🌸

I’m 35 weeks pregnant and I’ve been having this sharp weird pain all the way down my crotch every time the baby moves. It feels like a lot of pressure but not like “oh he’s moving it’s pressure” pressure. It’s like a wiggle that’s so painful my first reaction is to slap my thigh😂. It feels like he’s about to escape. I’ve never had this pain before. This morning I woke up with my rib cages aching and my back too. I’m sat up straight and all I felt was something trying to escape from my crotch it was so intense and painful!!!!

What is going ONNNN did this happen to anyone else?

Birthday

Baby is turning one in September. Does anyone have any good gift ideas. We don't want to go over the top as it's not far from christmas. We would like to get a few bits, but nothing crazy.
5 did people do for a birthday party as I was looking at hiring a hall put, just because we couldn't host both families at our house. But just wondered if there was anything better than this as we would have to set up and do the food ourselves so would just be adding work for us to do

A little disappointed by the 16 weeks appointment 🙃

Was told by midwife we would listen to the heartbeat at 16 weeks and that it would be a nice appointment to bring my little one along. Told my little one about it and she was super excited and only to find out they stopped checking heartbeats at 16 weeks just a few weeks ago! 🙃 my little one luckily didn’t react to it when she told us in the appointment but the second we got to the car, she was very upset because she wanted to hear the baby’s heartbeat!!

‘You’ll just know when you’re in labour’

I always hear this but starting to get concerned I really won’t! I’ve had a couple of contractions over the past few days (well I believe so). Nothing too painful or strong, enough to feel and backache and diarrhoea. The normal early labour/prodomal labour signs.

However, I have struggled with very bad period pains in the past. Time off work, prescribed painkillers, a laparoscopy that found I had scar tissue connecting my bowel and uterus. I used to describe my period pains as barbed wire being tightened around my insides.

I’d be happy to ignore all my sporadic symptoms and then if it becomes super obvious I’d go in, but because I have strep b, I need to know when I am in labour to be able to go in and get the antibiotics.

Is anyone in a similar situation with really feeling like they might not know until quite late?

I’m also headstrong in the sense that unless I’m feeling sure I wouldn’t want to bother the hospital or drag my partner out of work etc in case it’s nothing…

I’m 39 weeks exactly

Is it true you have to not eat 24 hours before a c section?

I had an emergency one last time so I had eaten a couple of hours before but the reason I’m worrying is that I’ve just gone 5 hours without food and genuinely got the shakes, nearly passed out, felt really sick and dizzy. I genuinely don’t think I can do 24 hours of it
