Dummies

Not so much a question regarding my child but about someone else's.

I have a younger child myself, i noticed that someone I have on social media's child (4 year old) still seems to actively use a dummy/pacifier. It seems to be with them in almost every photo they post. Is this normal for that age bracket? I am trying to gauge whether its okay to keep mine on them longer or whether this is not normal. Thanks!

I don't think they're recommend after 1 as the can cause dental issues, I've just weaned my daughter off of them and she's just turned 7 months but she started to favour her thumb anyway, can't take her thumb off her šŸ¤£šŸ¤·ā€ā™€ļø

Does this annoy you?

It really irritates me when my friends will cancel plans or delay plans because the baby is having a nap! I’m a second time mum, but I didn’t even cancel plans or delay when my first hadn’t napped/was napping. Same with my son now, if I’m going out I’ll either plan naps around it or he will go in the car and can sleep there.

family members kissing baby

We’ve just had my partners auntie and uncle visit, we had no idea prior to the visit that his uncle is just getting over PNEUMONIA. He didn’t hold the baby, but he gave him a kiss on the head. They’re still downstairs now, i’ve washed his head with lukewarm water and decontamination lotion. He’s 9 days old. How much of a risk is there? I am beside myself crying, i wish they’d told us i wouldn’t have let them come over. We’re both in really good health and he’s breastfed.

Boundaries/rules for when baby comes

What is everyone going to be telling people not to do when baby comes? Like
1.) don’t kiss baby
2.) if baby cries give back

I’m completely lost on what I should do for my boundaries/ list of things not to do. like I know off the top of my head but I want to write them down so hubby knows them too. (He also has given me full control over it because he hasn’t been around a lot of babies less than a year old)

Baby Schedule vs. Life Obligations

Hey hey, what age does routine get a little more flexible? And any advice on navigating naps or general routine for baby and life?

I have a 9m old and we have a family event coming up this weekend (dinner at someone’s house). Normally it’s not a big deal if it’s an early afternoon event, but it’s dinner which is set for 5pm and it’s always a minimum 4 hour ordeal, plus drive time. Her dinner time is always 5-5:30, followed by bath time, story time, bed time.

I’m torn between keeping with her routine and staying home while my husband goes to his family - so as not to have a cranky baby on our hands. But I also know at some point we have to go do life with her. Just wondering what age that usually gets easier?

Breastfeeding & going back to work

Hi guys, I’m still breastfeeding my 9 month old but returning to work when he’s just turned one.

I’m really not wanting to pump at work if I can help it (work as a nurse and would struggle for time) and ideally wanting to start to wean off in the next month or so.

Just wondered what people’s experiences were? Any tips? When did people start to wean before going back to work?

Thank you! ā˜ŗļøšŸ¤—
