If our baby is a boy we want to call him Maxim (Max) - my husband is Russian and it’s important for us to have a Russian name, our older son also has a Russian name. When I looked up the connotations of the name lots of Americans on Reddit were talking about it having connotations of a men’s magazine which I’d never heard of. Is that an association you’d make in the UK?

I honestly wouldn't have thought of that. Maxim is a lovely name. The first thing I thought of thought is the philosophy maxim - a guiding principle, which isnt a bad connotation to have!

Yeah I’m not gonna lie, the first thing I thought was “isn’t that a men’s magazine?”
But also, you name your child whatever you want. There was a kid called Maxim at my school and no one ever said anything about it, I’m pretty sure that’s when Maxim was around as well.
