GD tips

I failed my 1hr glucose test from throwing up. I passed on the 3hr as I pass out when I get blood drawn. I now am going to have to take my blood sugar 4x a day and be treated as if I have GD. Anyone with GD have tips on how to remember to take the tests? I have terrible memory with medications and stuff!

I chose the finger prick as an alternative to the glucose tests and just set a 1hr alarm once I start eating. Since my time of eating is different throughout the day I have no alarm for the actual meal but you could totally eat at the same time everyday and have food alarms set and then set a 1hr alarm once you take your first bite. Have your glucose meter kit on the table in front of where you eat so you can remember and dont forget because it is in another room.

I also have a horrible memory when it comes to medication, so today at my appointment my nurse had suggested an arm monitor that constantly monitors for you! she was telling me that it’s changed out twice a month and you barely even feel a pinch when placing it! i would suggest asking about that if it’s something you’d be comfortable with!

I have always done 2 weeks of finger pricks rather than the drink and I just set an alarm for 2 hours after first bite. I printed a template to write them down and just folded up the piece of paper and kept it with my kit. Keep the kit in your purse so even if you're out and about you have it with you.

You could do a few weeks and have good levels and not have to do your whole pregnancy still! My 2nd I had to do for 4 weeks bc I had a few high fasting numbers but then I got to stop so have faith.

Ready for another baby?

Everyone in this group has an 18 month old. How many of you are thinking about the next baby?

I find myself thinking about the next baby but I found it so hard with my little one and no village! That fourth trimester killed me.

Too strict with first born?

Those who have had more than one baby, do you look back and think you were way too strict with first born?

I feel like I’ve been too harsh with my first baby. I wish I’d been softer with her 😔. I put so much pressure on myself to make her to have good manners, be kind, listen and just be well behaved

Almost 40 and pregnant

Having babies in ur 20s is awesome. Having babies at 39 1/2 is not fun. No sleep, sciatica, butt hurts, pressure down below, nausea, irritability, constipation and need I say more. This baby is an absolute blessing but I’m ready to stop working and I’m only 13 weeks 😕. Starting next week I will be reducing my books drastically. I’ll work 2-3 days a week.

Checking In!

How’s everyone doing so far? Currently 12 weeks today! It’s crazy how fast time is flying for this pregnancy vs with my son. I pray it continues 🙏🏽 But I did see a post that stated as much as we want to no longer be pregnant, these are the last days of being just a parent to one child. (Those of us on baby number 2) So it’s making me want to be more intentional with my baby boy. Enjoy him more these next few months 🥰
