Hi all, I am pregnant with my first 🥰 33 weeks + 3 days. This morning when I’ve woken up I really feel like the bump has ‘dropped’ - the top of my tummy/bottom of my chest/ribs which have felt pretty and firm before are now quite squishy again as though the baby has moved right down. It feels quite a lot different and I have also been getting very frequent braxton hicks.
I’m concerned it’s still quite early for the bump to have dropped (googling says this usually means labour is 2-4 weeks!)
Just wondered what anyone’s take is on this or if anyone has previously had a similar experience?
Thank you so much!! X

I’m 34+4 and I’d say this time last week I had exactly the same. Had midwife today and baby’s head is fully engaged. Doesn’t necessarily mean labour is imminent but a good sign!

I think my bump has dropped also, I'm 32 weeks and could randomly see my toes today, haven't looked down and see them for a good while, baby seems really low and heavy when I'm walking too

I'm hoping baby has just changed positions so I don't look as round😅🤞
I wouldn't mind baby coming early by a week but this would be far too early!

I recommend getting a birthing ball as your hips will start to feel it now baby is moving down. If it’s your first, baby being engaged doesn’t really mean a lot as it can happen a long time before labour. If it’s subsequent pregnancies they can actually slip in and out of being engaged so the pressures you’re feeling might change. Braxton hicks is usually a response to change of position, you might feel them a lot more now baby is further down.
I’ll see if I can find a picture of how high my bump was whilst I was in (a very short) active labour! So don’t panic 😆
Enjoy the extra stomach space, you might find you’re able to eat normally again and breathe a little easier for a period of time.
PS- Stay off google and ask your midwife, that’s what they’re for, they are a great service and don’t forget you can contact community team with questions like this or even triage if you’re ever concerned out of hours. No question is stupid to them xx
