Weaning

Anyone who’s started weaning, how much is your little one actually eating? I started weaning last week (started with veg) but he literally has 1 or 2 spoonfuls and sometimes isn’t interested at all. I know they say food for fun under one but I’m worried as it’s barely anything he eats

We’ve started baby led weaning
She’s chewing on lots of stuff but I don’t think she’s actually eating it

She’s getting all her nutrition from me at the moment still!

I will start mine by the end of the month and have been studying a lot about it, what most of the professionals say is that in the beginning at least we shouldn’t expect them to actually eat but try new textures, flavours, get to know the food and things like that. Once they understand and feel safe with chewing they will start it. I will carry on with milk as main nutrition and introduce food in between meals

Feeling guilty and Sad 😔

Change of Nursery

My little boy is 2.5 and I feel so guilty as he is really close with a key person in his current nursery but I have to change it as they can not accommodate my work schedule and keep saying that can’t take my son the day before after I requested the extra days like two weeks prior with constantly asking them to look into it.

It has lead to having to take annual leave, which is fine, but not how it is going I’m having to take emergency leave every 2-3 weeks cause they keep letting me down last minute without notice they wouldn’t be accepting the extra day and they have no places to have the days as a set day.

Feel really bad and guilty for my boy but we have some show around this week for other nurseries in the area who have the flexibility and availability as well as better Ofsted reports.

Not a rant just feel sad for my little one.

I need to vent....

My mother never babysits. She's one of those grandparents.

She's watched him for a total of 6 times since he's been born. He's 4 years old now.

Anyway, the last time was last night. She was upset because he didn't listen to her when she asked him to do something.

When we got home, she started complaining to us and saying "I really think you should work on x, y, z with him".

I'm sorry what? You know why he didn't listen to you right? You barely know him and he barely knows you.

I am raaaagingggggggggg. How dare she? How dare anyone? What the fuuuuck

Am I being unrealistic/ unreasonable

Am I being unreasonable to expect my husband to be able to promise/commit to picking up the kids from nursery/school at least once a week no matter what.

We both work full time (he is the main earner) and I am just asking that every Wednesday he collects the kids without fail. He’s saying he can’t commit to that in case he has a meeting/ has to work away.

However have to commit to ensuring they are collected every other day so why can’t he do the same just for one day?

I see this as putting work first. Am I in the wrong?

Tax free childcare

My little boy has started nursery last week. I applied for funded hours (won’t kick in until Sept) and tax free childcare on 18th May, got the funding code straight away but had an email regarding the tax free childcare that I will hear back from them in 7 days.
We’ve just had our invoice through and went to pay but realised I never heard anything back and I’m not able to pay through the childcare account yet, so have had to pay full price.
Is anyone else in the same boat and had delays with the tax free part of the application?

At what age did you start potty training?

My bubs is 9 months but I’ve been thinking what would be the best time. Also if you could’ve done it differently what would you have done?

Park manners

We went to the park today, and for the first hour it was just my 2 year old playing. Right as we were getting ready to leave, some older kids arrived and my child wanted to play with them, so we decided to stay.

The older kids kept running away from him and calling him a monster, which honestly didn’t bother me too much. What did upset me was that the child closest to his age started throwing wood chips at him, spitting at him, and even walked up and hit him.

The parents were sitting on a nearby bench talking and did absolutely nothing. They didn’t correct their child, intervene, or even acknowledge what was happening.

What is your go-to response in situations like this? I found myself getting really upset and wasn’t sure how to handle it.
