We're going on holiday to Cornwall next week which is about a 5hrs drive from where we are. I'm a bit worried about how to keep my little girl (11 months old) entertained during the journey 😅
We're thinking of leaving before her morning nap so she'll probably have her first nap in the car, which is usually around 40–45 minutes. We'll also stop for lunch on the way but it's still a long time for an active baby to be sitting still!
Any tips or advice would be appreciated (books, toys, snacks, planning, anything really!). Thank you ☺️

I did a similar drive when my first was about 4 months old, I'd say don't make any definite plans in terms of when to stop ect play it by ear. Baby may possibly nap for longer than they would at home, as they're in the car. Take any toys you think will help keep baby occupied, which is always hard in the car. I'd say just take your time getting there, if that means stopping a couple of times for longer than you normally would so be it. Make the journey part of the fun too. I hope you have the best time

I live in Cornwall and often do the drive up to the midlands solo with my two boys, also about 5 hours! I always aim to leave about an hour before morning nap which usually means about 30 mins of kids chilling in the car then they fall asleep a bit early. Aim to drive for as long as they’re asleep (I find with the motion of the car they can go about 2 hours), stop for an hour our two at a service station then second half of the drive is basically a pray for the best and throw snacks towards the back (usually banana pancakes - easy to hold and relatively low mess) until baby falls asleep for afternoon nap & nursery rhymes on repeat for the toddler 😬 good luck and enjoy beautiful Cornwall!

We did Wales at Easter which is about 4-5 hours from us. Tbh she napped longer in the car, probably the motion, so we just went with it. Whenever she woke up we just stopped at the next services. Managed the journey home with just one stop! She was happy in the back with some toys and just watching out the window
