Struggling

My baby won't be put down to sleep at all. It's been like this since 4 months old. I'm getting really frustrated and feel like I'm trying all on my own and getting nowhere. Do they just start to sleep on their own or do I need to sleep train? I've been trying for theast 2 weeks putting him down in cot, sometimes he will stay down for half hour most of the time not. I just co sleep now but I want him in his cot as its safer. Feel like I've created problems by contact sleeping and feeding to sleep

You haven't , I have co slept since day one and now at 7 months he will do the first part of the night on his own in the cot . I haven't sleep trained . I feed him then put him in drowsy but awake he messes around and I let him as long as he's clam and happy then after a few minutes pick up cuddle a little more milk and repeat I do this for around 20 minutes but slowly start rubbing his back firmly and shushing and he then falls asleep . I don't get stressed and it feels like forever but actually it's only twenty minutes. He wakes every three hours maybe 4 if lucky but for me that's a transformation and then from 2/3 onwards I have him with me in bed for cuddles . Honestly they go through so much all the time it changes constantly . He's crawling so his naps on me have completely changed the last week . Once I think I have it figured out it changes
