Is it normal for a 4 year old to still be hitting when they don’t get their own way? We had this a lot around 2 and I get it’s because communication isn’t great etc etc but that all calmed down and now at 4.5 suddenly it’s ALL THE DAMN TIME. Am I doing something wrong?! I never let him have what he wants so it’s not like he’s learning it works or anything, I just try and stay calm, stop him from hitting, if he’s really not calming I remove him or me from the situation and wait until he’s calmed. But I am starting to struggle a bit as it’s been going on for ages and if anything I feel it’s getting worse. Clearly this way of responding is not working.

Yeah it is, particularly at home. 4 is still quite little.
