I ended up having a planned c section at St Helier. My care throughout pregnancy was very up and down. Mostly good but completely depended on who I saw. I had an absolutely fantastic radiographer who was incredibly thorough and reassuring at 20 weeks, I was also so impressed with the MAU unit and had some amazing nurses. Sarah the manager of the birth centre was amazing. She was understanding, reassuring and filled me with confidence. Negatives: I was given additional scans that were reorganised as they couldn’t fit me in then all of a sudden I was told no more scans and clinical decision is to induce within 24 hours, over the phone on my way to a scan totally unexpected. I refused I was then seen by a horrendous clinician who basically forced me to sign papers and told me it was medical negligence to refuse induction. I refused unless they could provide a reason other than ‘my baby being large’ and asked to be monitored to assess if there was any genuine reason’ TBC in next comment

I ended up on MAU for monitoring and refused induction 6 times. The nurses encouraged me to meet with another clinician and we decided on a planned c section with hopes that I would go into labour prior. Sadly, I didn’t. When I turned up for the planned c section after being told delivery was essential they didn’t even have me down to arrive when organised. Despite this the surgery went well and the aftercare I received I will say was fantastic. I would go to St Helier again however and I’d love to utilise the birthing centre should we be fortunate to have another baby. My only advice would be to be as strong as you can, advocate for yourself and trust your gut. Take somebody with you if able for support and always ask for a second opinion.

Should dads be allowed to stay on the maternity unit overnights?

When I was in having my last baby, the written rules were dads had to leave by say 10pm and could come back in the following morning. It wasn’t until hours after I said goodbye to my husband I realised that the 3 other women in the room had been allowed to have their partners stay. One was snoring loudly, one was constantly walking and hovering about and also using the in room toilet which stated patient only. The gaps in the curtains made me feel extremely uncomfortable with boobs out, bleeding and vulnerable as you expect after a birth. I also was aware they could hear every personal question the midwife would ask me. This is making me anxious for my delivery this time around :-(

I think I may be pregnant.

So, I've been experiencing a lot of pregnancy symptoms for the past 3 weeks or so. I took 2 pregnancy tests, and they were both negative. So I don't know what to think. But Chatgpt said it was two soon for the tests. So I don't know. I'm just confused and have a lot of mixed emotions. My best friend thinks I am pregnant, however. I'm getting all the symptoms I got when I was pregnant with my son, tho. But I think I'd just wait for my cycle, and if it doesn't come, that'll let me know if I am. What do you think, tho?

After pains

Has anyone found anything that helps the after pains?
They are way worse after my second. I am breastfeeding so I know that makes them come strong when feeding!
I’m taking paracetamol/ ibuprofen but I’m still curling my toes at these cramps 😖

Water run? Morrisons test.

Hi! Took this test this morning (12dpo, no period yet) and I’ve seen this on my test. Unsure if it’s a water run or maybe something more. What are your thoughts?

C section Worcester 💖

I’m currently laid in bed with my new baby boy 💙after an elective c section in Worcester and I have to say I was so scared! I’m a huge wimp and haven’t had any medicals even though I’m 33 but if anyone needs to hear it, the team were unbelievable, I was in at 8am and out of theatre by 9,59am Friday and little boy was born.

An amazing & positive team! They did tremendous. I’m in recovery now but in case anyone wanted a little reassurance if you’re worried :) #worcester #csection
