No judgement please!
Anyone else spoon feeds their toddlers still? Im trying to encourage self feeding but I am finding it hard to be honest. Im not sure if he understands or just being stubborn. He doesn’t talk so it’s harder. We are on day 4 and he just throws the spoon and cries/screams.
I’d appreciate any advice/tips.

My little boy isn’t brilliant with food, but he loves a snack try with lots of things he can just pick up with his hands. Cheese, fruit, crackers etc. maybe something to try? x

We don't but we haven't since he was about 10 months old, our LB grasped food really quickly and well. I think part of this is because my partner and I both work in hospitality though (I'm a chef) Our LB can use a spoon, fork and wants to learn how to use a knife HOWEVER...... This doesn't mean he uses cutlery every meal. We offer it and we let him choose how he wants to eat. He is currently squishing his pasta in-between his hands then smashing it into his mouth 🙄 A lot of the weaning process is their exploration around food and what they are comfortable with. Some grasp it faster than others, they also go through phases of "fussy" eating. Try not to get too stressed, I know we tend to no matter what but they develop at their own time ❤️
We always eat with him i find that helps and maybe just focus on one meal a day with cutlery training like breakfast so the rest of the day is more relaxed. Dipping into independent eating if they seem interested?

It changes. Mostly she eats with her hands, sometimes she’ll eat with a spoon, other times she wants me to feed her. I don’t want meal times to be stressful for either of us so I work with what she wants. I’m more concerned that she’s fed.
