(Please ignore the messy car)
We had this car seat fitted yesterday by Halfords but the seat belt is in the way of putting my baby in. The guy who fitted it said it has to be like this so it’s diagonal in the back but I can’t put my baby in from the outside I have to go inside the car and buckle her in.
There must be another way 😩 or some trick to fix the seat belt down easily, put baby in, then put it back out? I need to sort this out asap because she already hates the car seat and she’s especially annoyed at it after daycare so I can’t make it worse 🥲

What year was this car seat made? I have Graco but Joie I thought was fairly new; therefore, would come with newer features like the seat bar hooks. I couldn’t imagine they don’t have different techniques and references to installing the car seat. I know it’s cliche to tell you to check your manual script to find the other options. Definitely not an optimal design if the image you shown really is how the Joie company planned to install this car seat.
actually you can sometimes youtube.com how to install your brand of car seat by the actual company which makes it verifiable and certified guidance.

I have this same car seat and I just have it on the other side of the car and there’s no issues

I’m confused though. The strap should wrap around both sides. Where’s the strap on the other side?

Halfords are the absolute worst for car seats and advice, post this on the Car Seat Advice UK group for proper advice x

Unfortunately this is the design of this seat (and other similar ones like the everystage). There is no getting around it, the seatbelt has to be like this when the car is driving. You can pull out the slack and tuck the seatbelt under so it stays out of the way whilst you buckle them in. Usually I just lift him up over it and then the slack of the belt means it just moves out of the way.

We have a Graco one like this as a spare in my partners car and it’s so frustrating getting him in and out of it. It is just the design of the seat tho annoyingly. We just pull it down and lift him over it

It looks like your seats have isofix points from the photo, can you take it back and get a seat that has isofix? That will avoid this problem entirely as you won't need the seatbelt at all. Also, the ones that spin are a game changer for not twisting your back!

We have the graco slim fit in my husbands car as a spare and we tuck it between the car seat and back of the car, just remember to pull it back out before you travel x
