IVF referral - waiting time
Hope somebody can help me.
I had all basic test done with GP and finally got the referral with 1 listed hospital near me.
When I wanted to book the appointment the website said no availability and there are 3 options.
- check again later
- choose other clinic (was only listed 1, so no option to change)
- request contact
I did request but the message said if they dont contact until aug 10 call them.
Is this normal to wait this long for only 1 appointment in the IVF process?
My age is an issue, so I cannot wait that long, also it said the average time is 19weeks...
What other options do i have?

It heavily depends on where you are, every ICB works differently but as far as I've seen unfortunately some places have long waiting lists. Is calling the clinic directly an option?
Yes it takes a while. I would request an urgent referral from the GP and would start calling the hospital. They can put you on a cancellation list. Took 6 months for the initial consultation for me
I was referred by GP in December 2024, had my first appointment at hospital in June 2025.
The ball started rolling quickly as they redone all my tests and sent for additional scans after that.
