Sharing the news with a new employer

I’m 15 weeks pregnant and I’ve just started a new role. I’m feeling nervous about sharing my news cause I’ve just started & it’s a contract role. Nothing in the world is more important to me than growing my baby but I also don’t want to disappoint anyone. I also don’t know exactly when I should share it - I was thinking maybe 16 or 20 weeks. Does anyone have experience with this now or in the past? How’d you frame the conversation?

I'd double check your contract because mine said I had to tell my employer by 15 weeks, but I'm a teacher so it might be different. I didn't even realize it had to be by week 15. I had to tell mine at 7 weeks because I'm at a higher risk. It went fine though and they were very supportive.

By law you don’t have to until 24 weeks and I personally don’t see any issue telling them when you feel ready after 20 week scan. I told my employer at 24 weeks (3 days into a promotion) they didn’t treat me any differently and actually gave me a permanent promotion before I went on maternity leave.
