I’ve been offered an induction tomorrow at 41 weeks but baby is fine. I’m considering getting the balloon catheter but I’m wondering if they will insist I do other induction methods after 24 hours if I don’t go into labour naturally?
Would they allow me to wait a few days and see if anything happens before discussing further intervention?
I don’t want to do it then end up cornered into getting more forceful methods that have painful contractions because nothing is wrong with baby.

As far as I’m aware, you have the right to refuse any medical interventions, including induction in general or specific types. So the question shouldn’t be whether they allow it, more whether it’s the best thing for you and baby or not and that’s your decision to make! This page has a lot of helpful questions to put to them if you need help reaching the decision https://www.tommys.org/pregnancy-information/giving-birth/inducing-labour/talking-your-midwife-or-doctor-about-induction

they will strongly encourage you to continue the induction if it didn’t work as they will say risk of infection. if everything is fine i would say don’t get an induction. i would never have one again unless absolutely necessary as it was just a nightmare and everyone else i know whose had one would also not get one again. not to scare you but if everything’s fine just let it happen naturally and your body will be better off for it!!
