At my 20 week scan, baby was measuring 93rd percentile and suspected LGA so they booked me in for a GTT which came back normal. But I’ve just had my first fundal height measurement at 28+4 and now they’re saying she’s only 10th percentile and they want to monitor for SGA? Just totally confused and wondering if anyone else’s measurements are feeling so random! Not sure whether to feel nervous or just ignore it.

This was me for both babies. One minute they were off the chart massive and next they were tiny! Both born healthy weight. I would take fundal heights especially with a pinch of salt, something as small as when you last ate can affect it! And also baby’s position is a big factor.

Have you been booked in for any additional growth scans?
Do you know what your FH measurement was? My midwife said the trajectory of FH was more important than the actual number i.e. needs to keep going up.
In all honesty, I think a lot of it is guess work, its good to listen to their concerns but also not necessarily get too hung up on it. One of my friends was told her baby was SGA, he weighed over 10 pounds at birth! Another they tried to force her into a C-Section at 36 weeks as they said he already weighed 9 pounds so she shouldn't go to 40 weeks - he was born naturally at 39 weeks weighing just over 7 pounds!

I spoke to a modwife in maturnity triage and she said the measurements they use aren't always accurate the measuring with a tape measure is so outdated and not that accurate and scans are the same. They can't be 100% certain on what the size of your baby is going to be.
