Im 27 weeks pregnant and have a toddler. My husbands mum wanted to visit us in our house but has been confirmed today that she has shingles. The husband (my husbands dad) lives with her and they share the same bed but he has had chicken pox before. They were meant to be visiting us this weekend for my husbands birthday, is it safe for the husband (my husbands dad) alone to come visit us or can he still bring some risk to me. I’m pregnant and never had chicken pox before.

Even if it’s just a 1% risk that 1% is not worth risking your baby’s life

He may have shingles and not know yet and if he does, it can cause chicken pox in someone who has never had it as they are both caused by the same virus so I'd 100% say definitely don't risk it.

Even though he had had chicken pox before can still get shingles. Definitely wait as he could be carrying virus with no symptoms

Can still get shingles if you’ve had chicken pox- don’t risk you and ur baby!

He's had chickenpox before so can definitely get shingles, it's people who haven't had chickenpox that won't get shingles. It's the dormant virus left over from having chicken pox that causes shingles.
