My oldest son was diagnosed with borderline line autism at the age of 6 and I always knew he was a little different than other kids his age with everything he does. He doesn’t like really really loud noises and he lines up all of his toys in rows. He doesn’t look at you if you are talking to him so sometimes getting his attention is very hard and he doesn’t always comprehend a converstaion very well. We have to ask him the same question 2 or 3 times and if he still doesn’t understand how to answer I normally put at the end yes or no if it’s a yes or no question.
My mother in law and my husband’s grandma don’t believe he is autistic cause he doesn’t act like an autistic kid. ( how some of them are non verbal)
I have explained the best I could on what makes him autistic and they always interrupt me in a middle of a sentence and say well that’s just crazy cause there is nothing wrong with him.
I’m at my wits ends on this. If I even bring up the autism they are flat out rude about it all and just say he’s not autistic.

A lot of people who don’t have experience with autism think that someone can’t be autistic and smart at the same time. They don’t realize it’s a spectrum and just need to be educated however in your case it seems they may just be choosing negligence
