Honestly yall im gonna decline the 3 hour. This is my 3rd pregnancy and no prior complications. I really don’t have child care to go to a 3 hour test when my hospital is 45 minutes one way. I can also monitor my blood sugar at home. Is this a dumb idea to skip

My doctor told me I could do the 3 hr or monitor at home. So I skipped it my 3rd pregnancy too lol

Why would you cancel your previous post 😅just take your child...

Can you not get it planned in for a day where you do have childcare? I had to take my 2 year old to mine. It's so important to catch it early I had no issues in my previous pregnancy and ended up on insulin jabs and 24 hour glucose monitoring x

Previous lack of complications are not an indication that you won't have them in the future. Finger pricks are not an accurate diagnostic tool. Doctors use them when they cant get a patient to do the OGTT, but is not as accurate especially because people tend to eat "better" when testing.

If you don't go get two weeks of data 1 hr post meals. GD limits are <95 fasting first thing in the morning and <135 post meals through the day.
This is my third pregnancy and like you the 3hr test was a lot logistically to coordinate so I tracked and my numbers were mostly over so we proceeded with the diagnosis and I'm currently on fast acting insulin at breakfast and lunch and long acting overnight to manage. It has been immensely harder this pregnancy, food that was safe a week ago is NOT anymore and it's high fiber, complex carb, and high protein all around with walking after meals and plenty of water.
Last pregnancy it was 'managed'with diet but I had awful edema and pain from 20+ weeks. I'm at 34 weeks now and treating it sooner and more aggressively has been much better overall imo.
As the placenta matures you'll get naturally more insulin resistant so definitely don't write it off without doing at least two weeks of work on your end to track so y'all can stay on top of it.

I personally advocate for the 3 hour test off the bat so I don’t have to go back lol at my last ob’s office his standard practice was doing the 3 hour test so I didn’t have to advocate that hard lol,
but this time around I’m somewhere different & if they wanna do the test at the hospital attached to the clinic I go to, I cannot bring my son into that building it’s just policy there, so regardless of if I get the 1,2or 3 hour test I’ve gotta advocate & plan for a day my partner or mom have off so they can hang out with my son while I go get it done

I skipped it, I had GD my first pregnancy, so we started early w/the glucose testing for #2 around my scheduled appointments, thought I was going to get lucky my 2nd time around, but 30w in I finally failed the 1hr. I didn’t need the 3hr to tell me it was correct, I just went straight to the store for a glucose monitor & started keeping a food journal & test results.

I am newly postpartum from my 3rd pregnancy. My first two, I had very obvious gestational diabetes. This time, I passed my 1-hour glucose test by 1 point (had to be under 140, I was at 139). I went ahead and just got the glucometer and monitored myself at home. Even though I passed by 1 point, I still ended up with high fasting numbers as well as high after-meal numbers if I ate something higher in carbs/sugar. Since you're right on the border there, 3 points above the limit, I would skip the 3-hour and test yourself at home. The 3-hour one is 100g of sugar anyway, absolutely disgustingly unhealthy and hard on your body. I'd avoid it!
