Elective c section?

Can anyone share their experience of an elective c section please?

Good or bad, I’m really torn on whether to go for one or try a natural birth. I have a few medical complications which make me think it may be the better option overall, but I’ve been told I can still try for a natural birth if I want, I just can’t decide what is best!

For me, the best decisions I ever made for my health and body. No issues, in and out in an hour (babies born within 8/9 mins), didn’t feel a thing, got skin to skin, delayed cord clamping, tons of photos and video, music playing, staff laughing and joking with us.

Two wonderful births, very happy with no trauma and fast easy recoveries. Loved them and can’t wait to have another baby.

I had a C section. It went very well. Couldn’t feel a thing, baby was out in 10 mins, scar has faded nicely, was off painkillers in a few days. The key to quick recovery is your diet immediately after the op: eat only bland foods that won’t bloat you so as not to put strain on your operation until day 3-4, like soup, toast etc. I recognise this is highly personal and not everyone will have had the same experience. This was just mine.

I had c-s due to FGR and was a great experience. We got pictures, delayed cord clamping, skin to skin and breastfed her within 10 minutes of being wheeled out of theatre. The epidural was nothing like I expected, was absolutely bricking it and was fine. Was discharged after 2 days, painkillers for about 5 days and was out of the house on small walks at 6 days.

My section was the best choice for me and my baby. I knew when she was coming, so could arrange pet care etc, I had no real pain and was up and walking after 12 hours. The care on the ward wasn’t great, but that had nothing to do with my surgeon and everything to do with over stretched labour and delivery units! My baby went to the NICU so I wasn’t discharged until she was, but I was fit to go home less than 24 hours after delivery. We went home on day 5 and I managed a short dog walk that day, had no issue with stairs and was generally pain free (without painkillers) unless I twisted funny.

I had an elective and a wonderful experience, honestly th best!
To go with what Monica said, diet is huge post op, but for me personally it meant a really healthy balanced diet with lots of healthy fats, fibre, lots of protein and iron. I was not expecting my recovery to go so well! X

I loved it! I had a playlist for when she was born, the epidural wasn't as bad as I thought it'd be and the feeling of everything being numb was actually really relaxing. She was born around 5-10 mins after I was wheeled in🥰the healing afterwards wasn't bad either, the catheter wasn't bad either. Just take it easy and embrace the newborn days! Like some of the other ladies have said, don't bloat yourself with food, one thing I wish I'd done too was take a laxative to just make everything smooth sailing. X
