I use shop bought, the ingredients are organic and 100% the fruit/veg. It’s so cheap & convenient

Only difference being you know exactly what’s being put inside it

I think with the store brought one, they still use preservatives so that the product stays in date longer. I have brought store brought myself in the past when I have not had time to prepare meals. But I do think giving home cooked is better has its cheaper and doesn't have the preservatives.

I do think there is, especially with what said you know what you are putting in it and you also know how fresh the ingredients are.

I think they have a place. I think for first tastes you do often see that like carrot and parsnip or something for example might have fruit in it like apple to make it taste sweeter, which people often find that then their little one won’t eat veggies unless they’re sweet. I used to buy puréed pouches of like coconut, mango, pineapple etc to put in plain yoghurt for my son when he was a baby. But if you want to give puréed carrot for example it is actually pretty easy and cheaper to just make it yourself, that way you know it’s just carrot too.

Homemade is typically more cost effective I think and you could put whatever you want in.
Personally we used store bought and I don’t think there is a big nutritional difference.

The biggest difference for me was that I could adjust the texture as she got older. Also it was waaaaay cheaper for me, I made big batches and froze it in 1-2 oz portions. I also tasted everything I fed my babies, and to me it tasted a lot better, but that might just be a preference thing!

I use shop bought too. The fruit purees I use to mix through yoghurt, porridge and homemade pancakes. I don’t have the time or energy to make every single meal and snack from scratch so I do a bit of both - shop bought and homemade. My 11 month old is thriving and his dietician and health visitor have no concerns with what I feed him.

They still use preservatives to keep them fresh at the store.. at home you literally can freeze them and they still be good.
