Are any fellow February 2026 moms about ready to introduce purées to their babies and store bought or DIY

My 5 month old is showing all the signs of solid readiness. Her big brother’s pediatrician gave us the go ahead for purées at his 4 month appt. A day or two later we gave him his first puree and he did well and we slowly added it to his daily routine (still getting as many bottles at first). We moved and are in the process of getting a new pediatrician so she’s late for her 4 month check up but my hubby says “let’s go ahead and start”. I ofc have qualms even though she can almost fully sit on her own. She reaches for our food. Grabs toys and puts them in her mouth and makes sucking noises. I think she’s ready but should I wait until I get her a new pediatrician just in case? Have any of you started? I made all my purées from scratch and don’t really trust any brand except little spoon. But I haven’t even tried little spoon. Just seen it used when I worked in childcare and liked the organic ingredients.”

Personally I’m not yet it can cause her small intestines to die and I’m scared of that

I have started purées and my son is doing good. Started with him not understanding it. But he ask for the food now when we put him in the high chair and he chews and swallows now too. I read that doing purées with your baby before solids teaches motor skills solids can’t

My baby turns five months old today; he had his first purée on Monday and his second yesterday. I’m only giving it to her once a week, spaced out so it doesn't cause any issues. His pediatrician gave the green light, but I make everything myself; I don't trust any brands yet. If you feel she’s ready, go ahead, but do it in moderation, watch closely for any reactions, and start with purées.

My LO is 4.5 months old and our pediatrician gave us the go ahead but I’m holding off. I tend to follow WHO guidance vs AAP because I just don’t trust a lot of the US standards and think they’re incentivized by money vs our kids health…but let me get off my soapbox lol I’m holding off until she can either sit up in her own or 5.5 months. Whichever comes first! I will say that, now that I’ve become a mom, I’m convinced we all have superpowers and that YOUR gut for YOUR baby will never steer you wrong! Does your pediatrician have an on call line? Mine has a nurse line and I’ve used it to ask questions vs waiting until her next appt. Might be worth a call!

Mine is 4 months and due to his reflux and weight gain we started with rice cereal and doing purees. He has been ready for food though. He tries to take bites of ours and he loves it. It honestly has helped so much! His pediatrician gave us the okay for it
