Work and NHS appointments

Has anyone else had issues with work and their hospital appointments? I teach English at a secondary school. Everything seemed to be going fine until I found out I had to have weekly monitoring appointments for my blood pressure. I also have consultant appointments due to having ulcerative colitis. I told work in good time and have requested the same time weekly so I'll be off site Monday morning, but back for around 10.45. Work have been really difficult since I've had these appointments and I've had 4 emails off a member of SLT since Thursday (it's now Monday) to request that I book my appointments from September at a time that has the minimal impact on the business needs of the school. I told them the appointments are daytime appointments, so would have some impact but I would continue to book for early morning or late afternoon if possible but that answer doesn't seem suitable to them. There seems to be a vibe they want me to book appointments for outside working hours but they won't say it.

Has anyone else experienced anything similar?

The only thing I’ve had an issue with (luckily) is antenatal classes, my school just asked if they could be booked outside of school hours when possible. However, I don’t think they can have an issue with medical appointments, maybe check with your union rep in school? I work in a secondary school too and have had to have a few scans with less than 24 hours notice at some points and they have to allow it
