You can request it now! Any time after 20 weeks you can ask. I got mine after my 20 weeks scan :)

The midwife you see at hospital after you’ve had 20 week scan will give it you, same time she gives you the whooping cough vaccine

Avatar

Just call your midwife and she will give it you!

I had to ask for mine at my 24 week midwife appointment. My hospital didn’t offer it x

My midwife told me they issue them at the 24 week appointment and that’s when I got mine.

You get it from your midwife. I think mine said you don’t get it until 24 weeks or something similar but I’ve heard other hospitals sometimes give it sooner or later

They give them at 24 week appointment but I phoned mine and asked for it before that to send off to my director and she just left it signed in the main office for me to collect ! Always worth an ask if you’re wanting it before your midwife appointment

Avatar

I got mine from 20 weeks before 20 weeks they not going to give it

Avatar

I asked for mine before my 24 week appointment but the doctors reception lost it so I only actually got it at 24 week

Avatar

If you need it now for work you can request they issue it and let you pick it up. I just collected mine today from the reception at the family hub where I see my midwife.

Avatar

I got mine at my 25 week midwife appointment but just request it to be collected from GP if you need it before your next midwife appointment

Avatar

You are supposed to be given it at the 20 weeks scan apparently. I had to chase and chase it for work meeting then got it at 24 weeks x

It's either 20 week or at a 24 to 26 week appointment, depending on your location in the UK.

Whooping cough you have to ask for. You can have it anytime fromn20 weeks onwards.

Definitely chase your midwife for it. I had to as she moved my 25 weeks appointment to a week later. I had a different midwife issue it and i collected.

Baby names

Me and my husband went for a scan yesterday and we’re having another baby girl ! and I have no idea what to call her with my first daughter I already knew what I was gonna call her before I got pregnant and now I’m completely lost I like matching names my husband does not he is also Slovakian so something that goes for both 🩷 ( my daughters name is Valentýna)
I have two names I really like, but my husband is not keen on them 🫣

3rd baby... & possibly 4th?

My 3.5 year old keeps telling me I have 2 babies in my belly without even hearing of a possibility of that from anyone!! I literally look 20 weeks while only being 9 weeks(which I dont mind at all its just suprising). Could he be right or the 3rd baby just pops so much ealier on? We haven't had an appointment yet 🤍

Feeling really disheartened

I'm 38+3 and just had my last midwife appointment (planned C-section next week), but it wasn't my usual midwife it was her holiday cover, and I just felt like she was really unapproachable and not particularly friendly. I had loads of questions I wanted to ask but just didn't feel comfortable asking her and she barely asked me any questions so it didn't really open up any communication channel.

She was quite rough when feeling for baby and has been the only midwife to hurt me during this process, and she didn't even tell me how engaged baby was or anything. Does anyone know how long it takes for Badger to update as hoping to see on there?

The student midwife also said my urine was showing traces of nitrates and asked if she should send it off, and because the lady before also had nitrates she decided it was the sticks and no need to send it off. I had a Google after and see it's linked to UTI's, but she didn't even ask me any follow up questions like if it was uncomfortable peeing (which it is, but I assumed was linked to baby position).

I've honestly just left that appointment so sad and disappointed. One of the things I wanted to discuss was possible prenatal depression but I just couldn't bring myself to talk about it with her, and I won't see my normal midwife until after I've had the baby and that will likely be at my house with my husband and baby there, so it probably won't be something I can just bring up then either.

Sorry for the essay, just needed to get my feelings out

16 week home appointment

Hi there,
I’ve been waiting all day in the house for the midwife to attend to give results from my 12 week scan. All it says on Badger is that I have an appointment at midnight. When I rang the maternity services, they said ‘they don’t give a time you just wait’ so ‘anytime from 9-6:30pm’

Has anyone else experienced this ? Just waiting around….?
