Hi my daughter is 18months. Today she went to the pediatrician and her pediatrician told me that she behind on her motor skill and verbal skills. I felt devastated by it and want to know how can I teach her words. I’m a busy mom I take care of the house and cook dinner and sometimes it can be rough to keep everything in check. If anyone has any suggestion on how I can communicate with my one year old correctly would be appreciated.

Even just reading books in the evening can massively improve her speech and I like to do flash cards too.

The best thing I've done is to narrate what I do as I do it. It has become second nature. Even if not related to her but as long as I'm in her presence. I'll go downstairs to change clothing. Let me get a mug. Etc.

There’s no real correct way of doing it. My question would be why have they flagged the issues - what isn’t she doing that they would expect?
