Any thoughts on c-section vs vaginal?

Hi all,

I know it might be early to make a decision on this, but what do you all think about c-section vs vaginal delivery? I’ve read on Reddit about both and have talked to a few folks.
Do you ladies have chosen? Any preferences?

I would much rather have a vaginal delivery than a c section if it's possible. I know quite a few who have had c sections and the recovery is a lot harder than vaginal. It's a major surgery on top of giving birth. People like to say it's the easy way out but Id have to disagree. C section mamas are so strong

I’ve been meaning to ask this question too! I’d love to hear from women who’ve had both, especially those who elected for a c-section.
C-section is the way I’m leaning towards now but I really don’t know what to do. Vaginal birth terrifies me 😖😩

I’m having a c-section

I had an emergency c-section last time, doing everything I can to prepare for a vaginal birth this time around. I did have to be induced last time due to high blood pressure, so if that happens again I will move forward with another c-section as my induction did not go well last time.

A lot of women who received c-section say they wish they were more educated about it, and how if they could re-do things, they would’ve pushed for a vaginal birth. Not only is it harder to heal from, (for some maybe not all) but it also makes it to where if you have a baby in the future, there could be more risks involved.

People underestimate and downplay C-sections - they are a major abdominal surgery! They shouldn’t be done electively.

I’m curious to understand the other side of it.
People who do vaginal delivery also go through vagina tear and get stitches and have few weeks of recovery. Unless it is not their first vaginal delivery.

How about that ?

would 1000% pick vaginal birth again over c-section. obviously, in an emergency situation, i would have a c-section, but i wouldn’t electively choose one if my pregnancy is healthy. beyond the fact that it is a major surgery that carries it’s own health risks for the mother, i want my baby to have the best chance at having a robust immune system and less chance of digestive issues and allergies.

Everyone I know who’s given birth (myself included) either preferred a vaginal birth or wished they’d had a vaginal birth. I’m throwing no shade at those who elect otherwise, but I do know it is definitely the more painful option with a longer recovery time. However, every mom has to decide what’s safe/best for her and deserves to make an informed decision. Good luck on whatever birthing option works for you.

Baby is very quiet today

Went to triage last week for reduced movements, they put me on the monitor for a full hour even though baby passed in the first 20 minutes regarding heart rate etc because I only recorded two movements in that hour as I just wasn't feeling him move. They give me the choice of staying in for 24 hours for monitoring but i declined and the past few days he's moved fine.

Today he's back to quiet again, has barely moved all day apart from a faint stretch that I couldn't feel but could see through my belly, I'm devating going in again but it'll be my second period of reduced movements and I'm unsure what they'll actually do other than monitor again and send me back home.
At what point in going in frequently for the reduced movements would they look at intervention?! I'm 37+3 so not sure if baby is just out of room but I worry all day about movements and wether or not to be seen

Planned C-section second child

So I’m supposed to have a planned C-section but haven’t had the date yet. I’ll be 38 weeks on Friday but they said this week they would tell me preop dates. I haven’t received anything 🫣I’m anxious now because I want to prepare and just don’t know anything.

Any advice? Are you in the same boat? Anyone from Manchester?

Growth scan

Has my first growth scan today and baby is apparently weighing 3.3lbs which is below average. 7.7th percentile. This was due to his stomach measurement being under. Head and thigh measurement were both fine. Doctor reviewed my scan and said I need another scan in two weeks and mentioned induction. Anyone else been on this situation and what happened?
