I recently had my smear test 3 years after having my confirmation smear test 6 months after having to have a LEET and biopsy after abnormal cells where found. It terrifies me that my next smear is in 5 years time as I had abnormal cells that required burning off after only 3 years (3 years prior and 6 years prior I was all clear). Next time I could have them and it could be way worse! I didnt even have symptoms last time either. I may never need a LEET again and I hope I never do. But 5 years feels too long. How do you feel?

I generally think smear tests should be yearly and the age we start having them reduced. As anything can change and it could quite easily be missed.

I’m from the US where they’re annual and now in the UK also surprised because I’ve had 3 colposcopies and they’re just like, eh you’re fine come back in a few years and we’ll look again 🙈🙈🙈
Personally going to go private and have one this year to be safe

I was amazed at the change to be honest and dont understand the need to make them even less regular than what was 3 years. I have *touch wood* so far not had issues myself but my mum had abnormal smears for years and years and many biopsies etc and actually had hers yearly under the hospital until eventually they decided to do a hysterectomy. So having seen her go through all that and also knowing my grandma had to have a hysterectomy for reasons i dont know it does make me worry and 5 years does not feel often enough
