23 weeks pregnant and struggling emotionally

Hi everyone. I’m 23 weeks pregnant with my first baby, and I’m feeling really overwhelmed lately.

I’m a first-time mom, so everything about pregnancy is new to me. I moved to the United States about three years ago, and I still don’t really have a support system here. All of my family is back in my home country, and I miss them so much. Sometimes I wish I had my mom or another family member close by to help me or simply be there for me.

It’s basically just my husband and me. He works long hours, so I spend most of my days alone at home. The few people I’ve met here haven’t really been very present or supportive, so most of the time I feel like I have no one to lean on besides my husband.

I’ve struggled with anxiety in the past, and since becoming pregnant, it feels like my emotions have become much more intense. Some days I cry for what feels like no reason, I overthink everything, and I constantly worry that the stress I’m feeling could somehow affect my baby. That thought scares me more than anything.

I love my baby so much already, and I’m trying my best every day, but lately I don’t feel like myself. Sometimes I feel emotionally exhausted, isolated, and like I’m carrying all of these feelings by myself. I also miss feeling like “me.” Pregnancy has been beautiful in many ways, but it has also been one of the loneliest experiences I’ve ever gone through.

I’m not looking for judgment. I think I just need to know that I’m not the only person who has felt this way during pregnancy. If you’ve gone through something similar, how did you cope? Did it get better? Any advice or words of encouragement would really mean a lot right now.

Thank you for taking the time to read this. ❤️

Yes i have days like this often and starting talking to my doctor i am 21 weeks pregnant and have a good support system and family here and it makes me extremely emotional to think about ever doing this without my mum close by. And being pregnant has also made me feel the loneliest i have ever been and sometimes i wanna back out of it i don’t understand how i am going to love this new baby im afraid i’ll feel disconnected or not want it once baby is here. I think how you feel will change constantly it does for me anyway.

You are not alone. FTM here.

When I hit 20/22 weeks pregnant I had an emotional break down at work (I'm a secondary school teacher and head of my department). I was anxious, overwhelmed, and felt alone. I have always been an over thinker. Add to this I also started to resent my pregnancy getting in the way of my job. Changing what I was and wasn't allowed to do (I teach science and suddenly there were so many experiments and demonstrations I do day to day that I wasn't allowed near for example)

Anyways, I got sent home by HR. She advised I call the doctors. I did that and after about 30mins on the phone with the doctor she decided I needed signing off work for a week to reduce my stress levels and to give me chance to bring my anxiety down.
She also referred me to the perinatal mental health team who then supported me for the remainder of my pregnancy, helped produce a mental health birth plan and have continued to support me after birth via access to some supoort groups and such.

You are not alone ❤️❤️

Hi mamas 💕 I wanted to ask if any of you have experienced this with your baby. My baby recently fell off the bed, and I’m feeling very worried. He cried right away, calmed down, and has been acting normal, but I would love to hear from other moms who have gone through something similar. Thank you 🤍

I feel like the world’s worst mum ever.

Yesterday my baby, nearly 1, fell from his high chair. I took him to a&e and they said he is fine but to just keep an eye on him. I honestly can’t shake this feeling away especially that I didn’t get to him quick enough. I feel like the worst mum in the world, I’m not eating, I’m not sleeping and constantly crying about the whole thing. My poor baby; he has a small bruise on his forehead and a bruise and a scratch on his knee. I’m absolutely devastated about the whole thing

Can you have a phone call while looking after your toddler?

Not a 5 min call for logistics or whatever, I mean a proper call to catch up.

A relative of mine is putting pressure on me to have phone calls but as a stay at home mum, I'm with my toddler constantly and I usually can't hear myself think if I attempt a proper chat over the phone

what’s happening with my baby

my little girl is 2.5 weeks old. she has been latched onto my breast since 5pm, it’s now 11.30. i wish i could say i was exaggerating but she’s literally been feeding for 6.5 hours. she screams between each breast too.

she’s been awake the whole time and now she’s extremely overtired and won’t sleep. she’s had a 3oz bottle of breastmilk and is still rooting and chewing her hands.

i just don’t know what’s wrong with her or what to do.

Poop issue

Hey 👋🏽 First time momma here 🙈Anyone else’s baby boy struggling with no pooping? My boy is 3 months and 10 days old and today it’s his 23rd day without any poop only some smears on the cheeks! We went to see his pediatrician and I do the bicycle legs every day but i’m really concerned now about this situation. I feel lost and like i do something wrong. (He’s exclusively breastmilk fed baby).

So a little update! After his 23 days almost starting the 24th day HE FINALLY POOPED!!!! 😻💕 I gave him some formula then 3 hours later he spitted up half of what he ate then he went back to sleep woke up half hour later spitting up a little more then he fell asleep on my chest and I heard a fart… then a second fart where you know that “okay that fart actually wasn’t just fart” moment so i checked his diaper and a huuuge amount of poop finally 😻
