Triage pointless ?

Hi all I moved my maternity care from Broomfield to Colchester as I’d heard nothing but good things about the care and delivery care here. However, I fear I’ve made the wrong decision…I called triage a few weeks ago as I’m pretty sure I’d gotten food poisoning i hadn’t kept food or drink down for over 48 hours and I was told to just go to A&E for fluids no wanting to check baby or anything. So you can imagine I haven’t wanted to call them again due to feeling quite fobed off. Well this past week I’ve had headaches and my right foot keeps swelling I kept ignoring it for 4 days however today it was staying indented when I pushed on the skin. My mum has a history of preeclampsia and my mother in law had the same symptoms in her pregnancy and ended up having a blood clot so they both urged me to go to triage. I listened and straight away the midwife/nurse was very abrupt and dismissive tried saying I defiantly can’t possibly have preeclampsia as my blood pressure is fine and my headaches wouldn’t indicate that either (my mum who had preeclampsia only got checked for it because of her headaches) and then she tried saying the swelling is probably where I’m not drinking enough (I am) and that doesn’t explain one foot swelling. But she went “could be a blood clot I’ll send for some bloods but I think it’s nothing” at this rate I’m ready to just go home I’ve documented the swelling and I’m going to take the lady’s name. Has anyone else experienced this treatment !? Broomfield triage was a lot nicer and wasn’t dismissive at all.

Ive had a pretty good experience with triage so far. I went in on sunday purely for anxiety 🙃 ive found the drs pretty dismissive and ive had a lot of problems with consultants but the midwives have all been lovely and helpful

I’ve had no issue with Colchester triage I was in there all day last Friday and they immediately sent me for an emergency scan and then admitted me straight away due to me not feeling reassured. I would say maybe you just got a less helpful midwife as I have never had an issue with any of them. Sometimes if you are under 26 weeks there is only a limited amount that they can do as they are unable to put you on the monitor xx

Please please get someone to see you again. My blood pressure was 'normal' but I had preeclampsia and it was ignored. You may not have it, but you every right to ask for a second opinion and it can be back at Broomfield you don't have to go to your registered hospital. I went to 3 different ones during my pregnancy depending upon where I was when I needed help.

40 weeks +6!

Who is still waiting for their July baby to arrive? I have an induction booked for Monday (which I was really hoping to avoid as I've heard horror stories. If anyone has positive ones, please let me know!🤞) I know there is still time, have done all the classic midwives recommendations/old wife tales etc and nothing has worked! 😂 Hoping baby boy arrives soon!🩵 Just wondering if anyone is in the same boat? How you feeling? X

When to be ready for?!

31 weeks tomorrow and wondering when is everyone putting up the big things like next to me crib and I ram etc. This is my third baby and my last one came spontaneously at 36+6 so want to be prepared for an earlier arrival but don’t want the stuff sat around the house for weeks for no reason 😩

Lost confidence in pregnancy.

I posted a pic of myself (26 weeks pregnant) after having my hair and eyebrows done and new comfies to try and make myself feel better, help with my confidence about gaining weight in my pregnancy. (6 miscarriages and 1 toddler and one on the way in the past 2 and a half year has completely changed my body and confidence)

A friend laughed at my photo and said how big I was and its just knocked me a bit. I'm Supposed to be going out with a different group of my partners friends for their birthday next week and I dont feel like I have the confidence to go anymore.

Probably just hormones but just needed a space to vent

When is everyone telling family/friends?

I am 5 weeks but have no idea whether to wait or tell a few close people a bit sooner…

Related pregnancy

I’m 33 weeks pregnant and experiencing severe itching all over my body. The itching makes me scratch a lot, and now I have brown pigmented spots where I’ve scratched. I’m really stressed and worried about whether these marks will go away. Has anyone else experienced this during pregnancy?
