So I’ve been advised to think about a c-section, and need all the information I can get right now. I am really nervous but I think it’ll be the safest option for me. If anyone has had this before please let me know.

I had a section with my first and I’ll be electing to have one this time around too. The recover is hard but it’s a really calm experience and would recommend it to anyone.

Mine was an emergency so can't fully comment on that but what are the reasons you've been advised to think about a c section for?

I had an elective C-section with my first son for non-medical reasons and it was so stress free... Even when it got delayed later in the day, it wasn't stressful. They explained everything and I didn't even know you could have your own music playing during it. My husband got to stay with me the entire time, from when we arrived, to even being present for the spinal and right till we got discharged. No complications, didn't need the injections after and recovered very well. I was out 2 days after my C-Section for a walk. If I had any advice, it would be to bring peppermint gum for the trapped gas after or you can ask for a special medicine the hospital has to help with it. Also, to get on your feet as soon as you're able to after the C-SECTION. I actually asked them to take my catheter out early because I found it was hindering me and any progress

Make sure you ask loads of questions, including the risks associated with C-section so that you can make a fully informed decision. The NHS is leaning more and more on intervention led births with 45% of births now taking place by C-section. Benefits and risks of all of the options available to you are not always fully explained, often making women feel that they don’t have the choice.
I had an emergency C-section with my first, I was really anxious but in reality it was ok and recovery was quick. But I know this isn’t always the case as it’s major surgery so feel that women need to be better informed to be able to decide what is the best choice for them. I am hoping for a VBAC this time because I am conscious that recovery will mean that I won’t be able to lift my 2 year old for weeks.
