I am almost 8 weeks pp after having a surprise c section. I’ve been cleared to return to any and all activities for a few weeks and have seen a lot about c section massage to reduce the appearance of the shelf (which seems to be the result of internal stitches and a tiny bit of extra fat/skin left over from pregnancy) but no one has given much guidance. When can I start massaging the scar and how do I determine how much pressure/movement is appropriate? Just by how it feels or should I wait longer before starting? Thanks in advance!

Following as I’d love advice too. I keep meaning to watch some YouTube videos on this also x

Would highly recommend seeing a women’s physio. They’ll assess your scar and core, give you exercises and show you scar massage x

I’ve had two sections. Just did my own gentle and not very much, massage after my first! Didn’t really see any improvements. My second is 8 months old and I started seeing a therapist when she was 12 weeks and I’ve had massages every three or so weeks! I’ve just stopped them cos I can’t afford it anymore 😂 but the difference is amazing! I’ve bought cups and essential oils and will carry that on weekly at home! Defo recommend it x
