VBAC

Has anyone had a vaginal birth after an emergency c section? Did anyone just go for another c section? How did it go? Do you have any regrets?

I had my first baby via emergency c section due to hypertension. I am now pregnant with my second and considering trying a vaginal birth again. I would love feedback from people who have experienced this!

My C-section was not exact "emergency" but it definitely wasn't scheduled (my daughter was a preemie, 34w3d and I had low water even after being admitted and pumped full of fluids so they did a C-section the next morning, though it kept being pushed back which is partly why I say it wasn't emergent). For the next 4 births (almost 5 if this kid ever decides to be born), I had VBACs, 2 of which were homebirths—one accidental, the other planned. I have a planned homebirth for this baby I'm pregnant with also, so it'll be VBAC #5 if all goes according to plan.

As far as going for a VBAC with your second baby, I say go for it! It's a much quicker recovery, especially when you have an older child to care for, but I would say to go into it with an open mind and plenty of support. Make sure your entire birth team is supportive, and that includes your provider as there are times where they can day early on that they support you but are really just being tolerant and then try to push for C-section later on.

Ask all the questions, do all the research, hire a doula, & get your partner (boyfriend, husband, whomever will be there during labor and delivery as well as immediately postpartum) on board and involved so everyone is on the same page. If you plan to go unmedicated, research that and what your pain relief options at your birth location will be (are showers available during labor? Do you plan to use a birth tub, or will you only be able to labor in it? Do they have a peanut ball? Birth ball? Squat bar? Will they encourage movement? Do they offer nitrous oxide? Sterile saline injections?). If you plan to get an epidural, still research physiological birth and find out what tools are available for you to use at the hospital that can keep labor going (labor breaks can be seen as stalled labor and may be a reason a C-section is pushed, especially if you get an epidural). I'm here if you have any questions or wanna talk through anything. As I said before, I've had 4 VBACs, planning another, and I'm in the field

Hugo, wanky or ok?

Hey,

I would love your help. I have my girl name but am in a pickle when it comes to a boy name we’ve chosen.

I’m Australian and my husband is Irish. The baby will be born in London, not sure where it will grow up long term but it will be one of the above.

I adore the name Hugo. My husband took some convincing but is now on board.

However! Since deciding, the reaction has been that it’s ‘upity’ ‘wanky’, ‘linen boy vibes’ and signals ‘social reaching’! I was shocked - after some research it seems in Europe it’s a pretty chill normal name, which was my interpretation, but potentially in Ireland / UK that’s not how it’s perceived.

It’s really spooked me, and totally turned my husband off.

Any help would be much appreciated - is Hugo considered a wanky name?

Should I wear the dress?

It’s my 40th birthday party on Saturday. I still have the dress I wore to my 16th birthday, so I tried it on and it fits (a bit snug).

Should I wear it to the party on Saturday?

C section massage

I am almost 8 weeks pp after having a surprise c section. I’ve been cleared to return to any and all activities for a few weeks and have seen a lot about c section massage to reduce the appearance of the shelf (which seems to be the result of internal stitches and a tiny bit of extra fat/skin left over from pregnancy) but no one has given much guidance. When can I start massaging the scar and how do I determine how much pressure/movement is appropriate? Just by how it feels or should I wait longer before starting? Thanks in advance!

Saw a ghost??

I'm a sceptical person so any perspective on this would be great, I feel like my friends and partner would not understand.

Fyi I am sleep deprived yes with an 11month old, averaging 4-6 hours of sleep a night. For the last 11 months.

But anyway here is my story.
I saw like a little girl shape in my 5 year olds room out of the corner of my eye, then when I got back into bed I opened my eyes and this like smiley exagerared face was like right there, when I blinked it was just a bunch of blankets but the face kept coming back, smiling inches from my face.

I didnt react btw to either. I also a few weeks ago saw the dame figure/shape almost on top of where my daughter was sleeping in the middle of the night. I was reading her a book to help her fall back asleep and I could not bring myself to look directly at her as I was freaked out.

I dont want to believe if it is a ghost that is is malicious, but my child has been having more nightmares the last 3 weeks or so and this all happened in this time span.

Im tempted to just politely say out loud you are welcome here but you have to be nice lol any thoughts? Have I gone nuts? Can anyone relate?
