āfailedā GD test
I had my GD test last Monday, and found out Wednesday Iād failed. Fasting was fine, but 2hr was 8.3
First few days all my finger pricks were fine, and well within range, sitting closer to lower limits than upper.
But since yesterday breakfast every reading has been high, and I canāt make any sense of it. This morning is the first fasting reading that is high.
Iām basically eating the same food or a variation of.
Iām aware Iām not even a week in, but I feel like itās knocked all my confidence with pregnancy.
I was anxious/nervous for the health of little one as it was, and this just feels like an uncontrollable/unpredictable whirlwind š¤Æ
Didnāt feel like there much help/support from the hospital when they diagnosed, literally given a glucose monitor and sent on my way, was there for less than 5 minutes and waiting for a follow up appt for a growth scan and to see a consultant, with no time frame given for it.
Locally the only maternity contact given is triage, and it doesnāt feel like the sort of thing to be contacting them with.
Am I the only one?
Today is my 35th birthday, and itās also my first birthday pregnant. ā¤ļø Iām 8 weeks and 4 days, and Iām having so many emotions that I honestly donāt know what to do with.
For years, I wanted to be a mom. I truly thought this was what I wanted. But now that itās actually happening⦠Iām scared.
Everyone keeps telling me I should be so excited and glowing, but if Iām being honest, Iām mostly freaking out. I keep wondering if Iām ready, if Iām going to be a good mom, and if my entire life is about to change in ways I canāt even imagine.
My partner is genuinely excited now. I think it finally became real for him after our first ultrasound, and ever since then heās been so in love with our little baby already. Seeing that has been really sweet. But at the same time, I still feel really alone sometimes because so much of the planning, researching, worrying, and mental load feels like itās falling on me. I donāt even know where to begin, and itās overwhelming.
Did anyone else spend years wanting a baby, only to feel completely terrified once you were actually pregnant? I feel guilty for being scared because I know so many people would love to be in this position.
Please tell me Iām not the only one who has cried from fear more than excitement. Iād really love to hear from moms who felt this way and came out the other side. š¤
