How were the out-of-pockets for your childbirth/ delivery handled?

Hey Mamas! I’m curious about how you and your partner handled the financial side of the delivery and hospital bills so I can make a better informed decision.

( feel free to drop a comment if you handled it any other way or if you had a joint account)

Kinda converted by insurance except for like $700+ in my son's name...I don't like that but whatever. I had a charity pay for that because I she my husband were broke.

Our BCBS plan deductible hadn't been met so we paid just around 5k and got a like 400 refunded back to us several months postpartum after billing came through and showed we overpayed. All our money is joined. At the time of my second I still had money contributing from my job/mat leave. This time I'm a SAHM but we just did monthly payments on it and are expecting partial refunding the same was as last time. With my first I let it hit collections and then wrote off as bad debt so yes my 10k bill eventually hit my credit but it fell off after 7 years. I was 15 when I had my first so there wasn't really any other way for me to tackle that at the time.

I had Blue Cross Blue Shield and met my out of pocket maximum like 3 months into my pregnancy. So I paid nothing after I reached my max!

My husband's insurance paid for most of my births. The rest was at least 90% covered by grants he applied for through the state. At least in Ohio, you can apply for grants to defray the cost that pay out on a sliding scale based on family income in relation to the poverty line.

Where’s the option where you did small payments towards it until it was under $500 then let it fall into the hands of debt collectors LMFAOOO 🤣

We are 550k in medical debt. We didn’t.

I either paid $100 or nothing for both of my csections. I can’t remember if I still have to pay the hospital copay when you are actually admitted to the hospital. Regardless, very lucky to have excellent insurance! I have Carefirst which is like a subsidiary of BCBS. But it’s not so much about what company you use but what your specific plan covers.

4d scan with anterior placenta.

Had our 4d scan and I can’t cope with the pictures we got this time 🥺 this is baby number 3 (surprise gender) and the best pictures we have had so far with all my pregnancies.

Still find it absolutely crazy that there’s a whole little person inside me 🥹

C section advice

Hey mums , I have a planned c section for next Friday but I was wondering if you went early and got an emergency section, How soon did you go from labour to getting the emergency section?

And if you did get an emergency was everyone rushing about? 🥺

It’s my biggest fear. 😧 had a planned section for my first and it was such a great experience I’m worried this will be different and I don’t get my section 😭

12 week scan

I had my scan, midwife said everything looks okay but their mouth looks a bit funny to me? It looks like they have an underbite or whatever. Is this normal?

Does this look normal?

I don’t quite remember what the sac looked like from other angles, but do you think this looks normal? Baby seems a little tight in there with little amniotic fluid surrounding. I’m 12 weeks.

Struggling at work

Is anyone else really struggling at work?

I work in an office job. I work from home a couple of days and from the office a couple of days but I just find in teams meetings I am really uncomfortable. I can’t concentrate on them. I can’t sit comfortably on my chair and listen to the conversation and I can’t properly input the meetings and then when I do I just get rid of hot and go red and then feel really embarrassed about it as well.

I’m only 28 weeks so we’ve got another 10 weeks to go before I finish and I just don’t know how I’ll manage that.

anyone else being in a similar situation?
