I have lost 32.4 lbs since really trying to focus on my health. I'm proud of this change, but I've recently received some discouraging words from my mother. I mentioned the weight loss to my mom and her response was, "I didn't even notice. You'd think 30 lbs would be enough to start to make a dent." She also talked about how I've lost weight before and I just let myself go again and get fat again. (I did lose 100 lbs about 5 years ago, and unfortunately I did gain some of it back when having my son and with 4 other pregnancies all ending in miscarriages.) My mom has always been my biggest critic, so I'm trying to not let it get to me, but I hear those words in my head constantly and I am starting to feel discouraged. I logically know there is a difference. I have gone down 2 pant sizes. My husband tells me he has seen a huge difference not only looking at me, but also in my energy level. My doctor is happy with my progress and for the first time in years, my blood pressure is normal, which he credits to the weight loss and life style changes. I can even see a difference when looking in the mirror, but I now can't look into the mirror without hearing her words. I guess I just need some support and encouragement and want to know how you all don't let the harsh words and negativity of others get to you. Any advice? I just don't want to let her win and give up on myself like I have in the past...

I think you should stop looking for validation from your mom. Surround yourself with love and positive people because even if it isn't noticeable (30 lb is a lot so it probably is and she's just being a jerk) there's no reason anyone should ever be negative when someone has made such a big accomplishment! We are not perfect human beings and we go through seasons where our bodies change. We have the ability to create life and that comes with various changes. There's no shame in that. Please be so proud of yourself and know you are doing so so good!!!!! You are getting positivity from everywhere except your mom so that should tell you something! 🫂🫂🫂 Sending hugs. Keep up the good work! 🤍

Tell your momma to kick rocks! All that matters is that you see it and YOU feel better! A loss is a loss is a loss!! Truth be told she is probably just jealous she hasn’t lost that 30lbs

You go girl!! That’s is an awesome accomplishment! Keep it up especially when your bettering your health, I have lost a lot of weight after this baby I just had but I still have to work on some life changes (I’m pre-diabetic) so that is an amazing accomplishment, give yourself a pat on the back girl! But yes sadly there will be those people trying to down play your successes for a lot of reasons concerning themselves. It has nothing to do with you. It’s just sad that it comes from the one person meant to build you up, not tear you down. I’m so sorry for that, I’ve had my fair share of moments like this with my mom. We have a better relationship now, but that’s because she actually try’s to be nicer lol. I would always go to my mom and want to tell her things and I was expecting her to respond a certain way (like a loving mother) and I got the complete opposite, which really made me sad and I started to resent her.

But I communicated with her about how she made me feel and for a while she did keep doing the same thing but after a while she got softer with me. Moral of the story, if that person that is supposed to love you, doesn’t hear you out and is constantly making you feel bad, please learn and save yourself the heartache of taking there criticism to heart because it is going to cause yourself to look at yourself differently when it’s not you. You just love that person so much it’s only logical you take what they say very seriously and importantly but you have to learn to “not cast pearl among swine” which means don’t tell something that you deem important and valuable to someone who doesn’t care, hope this helps 💖🫶🏻

My step dad and dad are like that. Its super upsetting. Unfortunately I would just let it go when she says those comments. My husband has really helped me and hes the one who truly sees me. Youre doing an amazing job, dont allow her to bring you down.
