Did you wait?

Hey mamas! šŸ„¹ā¤ļø

As of today I’m 7 weeks and 6 days, and tomorrow I’ll officially be 8 weeks pregnant! 🄰

So far, this pregnancy has been completely different from when I was pregnant with my two boys. I’ve been dealing with a lot of morning sickness…except it doesn’t just happen in the morning. šŸ˜‚ It can hit me at literally any time of the day.

One thing that carried over from my second pregnancy is that I cannot stand the smell of cooking oil or raw meat. 🤢 Those smells make me feel so sick.

So here’s my question…

I haven’t really told anyone I’m pregnant except my husband ā¤ļø, my best friend (who will be my baby’s godmother šŸ„¹šŸ’•), and two very close friends I’ve known for years.

I’ve been keeping it private because I want to enjoy this moment and wait until I’m ready. My plan is to announce it to everyone around the time of my gender reveal, which I’m hoping to have toward the end of October.

Do you all think I’m wrong for not broadcasting my pregnancy yet? Did anyone else wait before telling family, friends, or social media? I’d love to hear your experiences and why you chose to announce when you did. šŸ’•

I don’t think you’re wrong for wanting to hold it close to you. However, it’s nice to clue in the people around you cause if you’re constantly switching up plans or kind of dodging them, they might take it as you not liking them versus you just being pregnant.

Wait, 'nobody' except your husband, best friend, and two other friends? That IS a full circle! Honestly, for me, that’s literally the only group of people I’d even want to know throughout an entire pregnancy + parents.
You definitely don't owe social media an announcement at 7 weeks - or ever. My personal position is that I’m not obligated to inform the universe about my pregnancy. Whoever sees me in person will see it when they see it, and that’s more than enough.

Literally considering doing the same I want to be at peace

Anyone else feeling uncomfortable already šŸ™ƒ

I’m 30 weeks today and I’m just exhausted. My bump feels massive, I’m out of breath all the time. Not sure if it’s cause this time I’m running around after a toddler but it’s so much harder second time around

Is the heat making everyone give birth early?!

I feel like everyone is having their August babies early! I don’t even have my hospital bags packed?

Down 30 lbs, but feeling discouraged...

I have lost 32.4 lbs since really trying to focus on my health. I'm proud of this change, but I've recently received some discouraging words from my mother. I mentioned the weight loss to my mom and her response was, "I didn't even notice. You'd think 30 lbs would be enough to start to make a dent." She also talked about how I've lost weight before and I just let myself go again and get fat again. (I did lose 100 lbs about 5 years ago, and unfortunately I did gain some of it back when having my son and with 4 other pregnancies all ending in miscarriages.) My mom has always been my biggest critic, so I'm trying to not let it get to me, but I hear those words in my head constantly and I am starting to feel discouraged. I logically know there is a difference. I have gone down 2 pant sizes. My husband tells me he has seen a huge difference not only looking at me, but also in my energy level. My doctor is happy with my progress and for the first time in years, my blood pressure is normal, which he credits to the weight loss and life style changes. I can even see a difference when looking in the mirror, but I now can't look into the mirror without hearing her words. I guess I just need some support and encouragement and want to know how you all don't let the harsh words and negativity of others get to you. Any advice? I just don't want to let her win and give up on myself like I have in the past...

Symptoms

Second (or more) time mums, are your symptoms now similar to your first or different? I’m finding it hard not to compare to my first, and I think because it’s a bit different it’s making my anxiety worse 😬
