Newborn Trenches

I’m only 2 days postpartum and I held my baby crying at 4am because my anxiety is killing me! Everything worries me and I just wanna be the best mom that I can be. What’s some advice or tips you wish you knew in the first few weeks when you had your baby?

I wish I knew it truly does get better. I wouldn’t necessarily say easier, but you get stronger and more knowledgeable by the day. Soon you will be like “oh baby is definitely tired, hungry, gassy” you will know your baby to a T. Right now you guys just met! It takes time to get to know each other lol. The anxiety is real I still deal with it 3 months PP, but therapy has helped manage it and something to consider if it’s too overwhelming! You are doing amazing and it’s okay to cry or be frustrated because your hormones are going through insane changes right now. Just remember, you aren’t raising a 2 day old forever. Baby will grow in so many beautiful ways and so will you! ❤️

Honestly just take it day by day and try not to put too much pressure on yourself. When my anxiety comes I just acknowledge that it’s there and remind myself it’ll just come in waves & it really wont last forever. You’ve got this!!

Firstly. You've got this! ❤️ And there is a light at the end of the tunnel.

Currently nearly 5months PP.

I remember day 1 or 2 crying as my lad wouldn't stop crying or feeding and wouldn't sleep.

One thing I WISH I'd known about was cluster feeding and surviving it.
Clusterfeeding hit my lad at day 2, week 2, week 4, week 6, week 12.
Each time it was 11pm to 3am 😅 by week 6 I figured out that camping out on the sofa with my lad, crappy binge TV and a snack tray filled with all my home comforts worked.
I'm nibble whilst he was awake, drink little Starbucks mini coffees from the fridge.
Whenever he did fall asleep I'd put him down and immediately put my head down on the sof and get 5mins, 10mins, 20mins. However long he slept.

I also wish I'd slept more in the early days when baby was sleeping. Chores can wait. But you need to rest and sleep.

Honestly I was like this. my baby is now 8 months nearly I used to be awful with anxiety and be the same as you! trust me it does pass and it does get better just go with it and think it will eventually go! Try and keep yourself busy go for walks to ease your mind, you’re smashing it keep going you are still only 2 days you probably haven’t slept a lot and your over thinking things honestly it does get better! You are smashing it keep going xx

My baby fell 😢😢😢 has this happened to you?

My husband was with my baby and he was starting to wake up.. I was in the other room sleeping and heard the thud… then heard my baby scream and my husband cry out and my baby crying so loud 😩 I ran out and just saw my husband hugging him.. he fell from the bassinet and he cried with actual tears. I asked to help him… and by that time he had calmed down and stopped crying as my husband was apologizing to him and holding him. When I help him he looked like he wanted to nurse and was sticking his tongue out… he fell asleep pretty normally and I was touching his face (my husband said he landed on his face) to see if he was in any main or if anything felt weird… anyways my baby is 7 weeks old. I’ll take him to the doctor later today but I’m just super upset and nervous right now. Has this happened to anyone else ? Was your baby ok…. I hate saying things but one of my biggest fears/ unspoken insecurities is that my baby will get a brain injury or a developmental delay. I’ve always fears this because I’m a social worker and am around it everyday for work… any ways pls let me now if this happened to anyone or what u think 😩 is he gunna be ok

Preeclampsia Birth Trauma

Hi everyone. I’m 4 months PP, my daughter was delivered @ 35wks via emergency c-section for preeclampsia, & I recently was diagnosed with PPAD & OCD. I had been having nightmares and wasn’t able to sleep and it was causing severe anxiety. I feel like I have unresolved trauma & PTSD from my birth. I didn’t think I did, but I still think about it a lot, and I’m bitter and upset because I had planned an unmediated birth. I missed out on my golden hour and special moments because I was in horrible shape and on a 24hour mag drip and in the ICU afterwards with leg compressions on, the whole 9 yards. My daughter was healthy and fine and I’m so grateful- but I feel like it really affected me.
Does anyone else have a similar experience? How did you move forward and manage the feelings of missing out in your own birth?

How is everyone coping in the “could it be today?” Phase?!

I’m 38+1 and have now been on maternity leave for the last week - nesting is taking up most of my time but when I’m trying to relax, all I’m thinking is “omg what if I go into labour today” anyone else?! 🤣

How are you holding up?

Hey lovelies! 😃
Just checking in on those who had their July babies already , how are we all holding up mentally, emotionally, physically?
I know so much is going on and we don’t really get time to check in on ourselves….
