how do you split the housework with your husband?

Guys, after your toddler goes to bed, how do you split the housework? Things like cleaning the kitchen, tidying up, and getting everything ready for the next day.

I’m a SAHM, and my husband works mostly from home. He only goes into the office one day a week.

I feel like I do most of it. I do all the cooking and most of the cleaning. My husband plays games every evening, usually from around 8:00 pm until 11:00–11:30 pm.

Is this normal when you have a 20-month-old daughter? How do you and your partner divide things after bedtime? I’m curious how it works in other families.

Well don’t wait for your toddler to go to bed - do the chores during the day- put them at the table or somewhere stroller so they fastened . Then clean .

I have the same issue- my siblings told me to put my son in his crib or playpen and let him watch tv whilei do chores but he doesn’t like to be confined

I only clean during the day and only do what little dishes we have before bed. Because evening is my time well it was. But now I have a newborn

I chip away at things during the day, laundry can be fetched and put on while she plays, so can hoovering. the more full on cleaning tends to get done while she naps. If we are talking a deep clean I delegate things to my partner so it all gets done, we put her in her crib with something to watch or do while we smash it out upstairs and playpen for downstairs mostly.

If we are talking closing shift after dinner etc it’s sometimes me sometimes him sometimes the two of us together.

My bf works and i stay home and I do 100% of everything and that's why my house looks crappy. I never have time to dust or clean fans or baseboards (all the small stuff that makes a house look clean) .
It gets alot easier as they get older. My son is 4 now so if hes playing with his toys I get up and clean something.

Starting tomorrow im going to start doing 30 minute timed speed cleaning and see how that works.

My bf works 12-18 hrs a day for two weeks straight without a day off then comes home for a week. So I feel like he should have a break when hes home and not have to do much.
It is exhausting though.

Being a stay at home mom is more work than any job I've ever had. But also way more enjoyable

I do most of if but I'm fine with that my husband works very hard to keep us looked after so I don't expect him to do too much at home, his main jobs are taking out the bins and he will help out more if I'm tired he'll make me food or hoover up but if I'm all good I'm happy to do most of it.

He's very hands on with our daughter though and he doesn't play videos games.

As everyone else is saying just try to clean and tidy up as you go throughout the day, I'm usually only left with a couple of dishes or some toys to put away by the time my daughters asleep

We both just kinda do what needs done as we see it. He usually does the laundry. I've only done his laundry once i think. I usually do the dishes. He vacuums and does the cat litter. I clean the rabbit area and my car. We both tidy. He works hard, and so do I. My job is taking care of the kids, he leaves the house for his job. But we both take care of our living space. Usually one of us watches the kids while the other is cleaning. It's just easier for us that way.

Nursery - is this normal?

My child has been harmed by another child at nursery 5 times in the last 5 weeks. I’ve tried to address it with the nursery and told them that I don’t feel that my child is safe but they keep dismissing this and telling me that it’s completely normal and ‘bound to happen’. I’m a first time mum so I don’t know, is this normal or would you change nursery?

Just curious: who mows the lawn?

Who mows the lawn at your house? I have been mowing this summer because my husband works in the heat all day and he shouldn't have to come home and spend more time in the heat and less time with his kids. I usually mow during nap. He says he's really appreciative but also feels bad since he feels it's the man's job. My neighbor (an older man) came up to me mowing today and said 'your husband too lazy to mow? A girl shouldn't be mowing.' I said 'he's working a lot and I'm making his life easier.' If im not working in the summer then I can help out at home. What everyone's thoughts?

Advice please 😭

Hi I don’t really have any friend or family to talk to this about. I’ve been staying home with my two small children for about a year now, except I’m not supposed to be a SAHM. My husband has been begging me to get a job and I am trying to I’m not sure what he expects from me. He currently works one job from noon to 4pm and another from 5pm to midnight. He will not give up either and has asked me to find something with early morning hours for example from 5am-11am. It’s been difficult finding something like that. Even more difficult to make it to an interview since I am the one that always has the kids. We can not afford daycare, the only baby sitter we have is his mother and she works all week 7am- 5pm. I’ve gotten a couple calls about jobs but he just tells me the hours won’t work for us, or that we can figure out something to do with the kids. But I have lost three jobs bc “figuring something out” usually just means I’m taking them to work with me which always results in me losing my job. Along with that my daughter has autism and has weekly OT and speech appointments that he will not take them to. Is there something I’m missing to make a job work? He tells me I’m just being negative about it. I’m truly just feeling stuck about what I need to be doing.

In law/ partner

Guys I’m just struggling so much mentally. I had my son in January by myself as my partner is based in the states on a visa that can restrict his travel and we didn’t want him to lose his status. He didn’t see his son until he was 6 months old and that was because we flew to him. Since coming he’s not spoken about coming to the UK to be with us but talks of America like it’s his base and speaks of his son going there to see him. It’s honestly heartbreaking that he’s fine with us being apart and that he hasn’t spoken about plans that include us. Any advice? Sometimes I get so anxious I feel like I’ll go out of control (God forbid).

Success story!!

So proud of my son (and husband). I was happy when they graduated from pureed carrot, zucchini, peppers and mushrooms in pasta sauce to grated.
Last night I made gnocchi and I just fine julienned the veggies and my son at 2 bowls. My husband said he actually preferred the julienned carrots!! I no longer need to hide veggies! I get to skip steps while cooking!!!
