FTM mom here. I’m 37+1 and had a doctors appointment yesterday. Baby is healthy but I’m high key miserable. I’m in constant pain (mainly because I’m a very petite person and my husband is 6’0) so baby is constantly on my ribs. I swear breathing hurts so much and is really starting to affect my sleep. So my doctor offered an induction date at 39 weeks (August 12 when my original due date is the 19th give or take)
My question is, what are your thoughts on induction? Am I being selfish by wanting to speed things up instead of letting baby come when he’s ready? How long does the process take in comparison to natural labor? What are the pros and cons in your opinion? How was your experience?

I’m a ftm mom being induced on Monday. I chose it because I’m in pain too, my baby is healthy. I need to be healthy too help my baby be healthy I can do that if I’m miserable. Plus I think it’s the safest option for me. I’m GBS positive, this way with my induction I have time to get antibiotics

Everyone’s pregnancy is different. I think people need to listen to their bodies because even though you’re growing your child, you still matter!!
I have never had an induction and people are more likely to tell you horror stories about inductions (it’s more intense, it leads to interventions etc) but that could very well not be the case for you. Ask questions to your medical professional on the pros and cons. 39 weeks is full term so it’s not unsafe for baby to come then! Do what’s best for you. good luck!

I’ve heard inductions take really long…. But everyone is different. I would say try your best to stay strong and naturally induce baby. Start now with naturally spike labor….
Membrane sweep
Sex
Pineapple
Raspberry leaf tea
Nipple stimulation
Walking on stair master
Bouncing on exercise ball
Eating dates
Do that now until 39 weeks.

Every induction is different! I was induced with my 1st due to medical reasons at 37weeks & it was 12hrs & was a breeze! With this baby I also plan on being induced at 39 weeks & according to the drs it should be even easier & faster unless she comes before then of course. I requested to be induced when they offered because I don’t have anyone who lives near our home & my parents are watching my toddler & they live an hour 30 away so it’s easier on all of us to have something on the schedule so we don’t have to drag our son to the hospital if I go into labor in the middle of the night
