Braxton Hicks

Braxton Hicks… I’ve been having tightenings all day long, not painful ones by any means but they have been on and off. My stomach goes rock hard, and then releases after between 30 seconds to two minutes. Baby has been moving inbetween them, but seems to have gone a little quiet. I’m going to call triage to get monitored, but wondering if anybody else experienced this? Sometimes they are one every half an hour to an hour, and other times I have perhaps 4 or 5 practice contractions every few minutes!

I’m 35+0! Due beginning of September but opted for an elective caesarean at the end of August 😊 (Just incase that is relevant to my questions!)

The Braxton Hicks in themselves aren't a huge concern, they can be triggered by dehydration, more/less activity than usual, a full bladder, constipation, or baby just being in a different position. However, if baby has gone quieter than usual, call triage right away.

I'm 35+6 today and have been having very frequent BH for weeks, some days it's all day long. A few times at night they've made me think it's the real deal starting because of how intense they get. But a good rule of thumb is to look for a pattern, and a change in intensity. Once they get into a regular pattern, ie one every 5 minutes lasting one minute for one hour, and are feeling more intense, meaning you can't comfortably talk through them, then you are likely in full labour and need to call to triage.

Either way I would get checked based on baby's movements changing now anyway

I had this exact scenario earlier this week but I was 37+3 - they didn’t stop overnight and were very frequent so I went to triage (I’m booked an elective as well which is why they wanted to monitor it!). Deffo go to triage - for me it turned out to be an asymptomatic yeast infection causing them which I otherwise wouldn’t have known about if I didn’t have the cervical check whilst in triage. Subsequent medication stopped the Braxton hicks so deffo get checked out!

Did anybody else see the video of the man who took his newborn baby from the hospital?

So he took his newborn baby from the hospital and he's claiming that it's his baby he should be able to take his baby. So from the video the mom basically told him she didn't want him to take the baby to his house because they had had a domestic abuse situation and he said it doesn't matter because I'm her father so I'm taking her. There are people who are debating about this and are saying that a father should have a right to take their baby even if it is a newborn and then there are people who are saying that a newborn should be with their mother and they can work that out later but the newborn should be with their mother first. What do you think?

How did your 3rd csection go?

I'm pregnant with my 3rd baby..I have had 2 previous csection. 1 elective to my sleeping baby and 1 emergency for my first. I have to get a 3rd as my doctor has told me and that's fine as I would want one but I've just heard horror stories as you shouldn't go past 3. I would love the option of a another baby if it came to it but I'd be scared of another csection with more risks.

When did your first come?

Hi! I know people always say the first comes late, but my husband was 3 weeks early and just over 10lbs and I was over a week early and just under 9lbs, and our baby I measuring ahead by a few weeks (I know the 15% margin of error lol), so I’m trying to just have us prepared by November 1 since we’re due 12/3.

Has anyone here experienced having their first coming early just because they were “ready” to come out sooner? Inductions count, but I told my OB I only want one if I absolutely have to do it.

Just trying to be practical here and not feel crazy for wanting to have everything done an entire month before the due date including packed hospital bags and the car seat in the car 😅

Rolling

Is anyone's baby still not rolling? Mine seems to try when on her side but cant seem to make it. She is very strong lifting her head when doing tummy time. Is there anything you can do to help them or should I leave her to do it in her own time? First time mum so just looking for others experiences 🙂 she is also teasing us with laughs she smiles from ear to ear but has done a tiny laugh maybe 3 times
