luton & dunstable hospital

does anyone else have a fear of giving birth at L&D? ive only heard horror stories from friends and family that have given birth there and 3 of my friends are now unable to have more children due to the physical trauma staff put them in. im someone who wants a big family and is an absolute wimp with pain so i just wanted to know if anyone has any opinions or thoughts?

I have a 10 week old and found then amazing! I went in wanting a water birth, ended up needing an emergency c-section and couldn’t fault any of the care I had if I’m honest

Happy to say more if you have specifics you wanna know

I don’t recommend. Absolutely traumatised me. If you must, make sure you have enough people there who knows what they doing and can advocate for you.

In general I had a good experience. They really look after me when I was there. I’ve spend over a week there. After my C-section when they move me to ward 33 upstairs I didn’t had so much luck. I had quite rude midwife, we had a bit of argue and she patronised me, then she had a laugh with another midwife that came to check what is going on. Generally she refuse to give my baby bottle. She told me I had 9 months to prepare for it without knowing my story as I was rushed to hospital due to preeclampsia so no… I didn’t had time to prepare. I have complained next day to midwife and begged doctor to let me out as my condition wasn’t the best and they wanted to keep me at least one more day. When I told the doctor what I had to face, we had agreement what I need to do in case of some symptoms and she let me go. I heard a mix of opinions, regarding this and other hospitals. Unfortunately no one will guarantee that different hospital would be better 😔 just avoid Helen from Beehive Child centr

I had a water birth there 8weeks ago for my little boy and had my little girl there 3 years ago. Couldn't fault the staff at all, they were fantastic, friendly, and encouraging. I can't comment on the ward as I was let home the same day but id recommend L&D. Everyone has their own experience and story to tell, but I thought it was great there, and I have a few friends who are choosing this hospital over Bedford.

Can’t wee after C-Secion

Sorry if this is TMI

Had an elective yesterday (30/07/26 9:21am) after an emergency with my first, i had to have a catheter in for 12 hours but haven’t been able to go to the toilet since. They did a in and out catheter after 6 hours and said I had another 6 hours to try and go before they would maybe need to refit the catheter again for 24hour observation. But I still can’t go even though I feel absolutely desperate for the toilet.

I’m terrified something is really wrong please tell me some of you have positive stories after this happening and I don’t have some kind of permanent damage 🙈🙈🙈

He’s here! 🩵

My baby boy finally entered the world 13 days late- July 30th at 8:58am. He’s perfect! Labor went much differently than I had hoped, and I got an unplanned epidural… but I’m so glad I did. Woke up from a nap to learn I was 10 cm dilated, pushed for 25 minutes, then finally got to meet my baby 🥹🥰

Abit confused on what’s going on. Baby gone from 90th percentile to 60th in a few weeks and says baby growth is still a slight worry .

Anyone know why is that?
