Sorry for the negative post

Sorry this is a bit more negative compared to the lovely 1 year posts!

Does anyone on here have problems with their babies being held my other family members? Went to a family event and my baby did not want to be held by anyone else (they’ve always been clingy) and I was trying to explain to her uncle the “stranger danger” developmental patch they go through and he goes “well she needs to get used to it and learn that mums not a stranger” and I replied with “well she’s only going to get used to it if she gets to see people”

It really frustrates me that people just assume a baby will be fine to be in anyone’s arms. The majority of our family including both nans have barely bothered to visit or get to know our daughter. My LO is actually really social and confident at all the baby groups we go to or when we go shopping ect. Just hate when people barely bother then tell me she needs to get used to them 😤😡

My LO is very social and has reached out to strangers in the shops to pick her up lol but whenever she sees my MIL and my 16 year old BIL, she doesn't stop crying. If they pick her up she cries and immediately wants to come back. Sometimes they will try and force her to stay in their arms but I get so irritated and take her back immediately. They see her like every 6-8 weeks and never video call so she's not that close to them. But they pretend like they are when they see her 😅 grates me.

Tbh if they don't make the effort to be in your child's life regularly they are going to he a stranger in the baby's eyes so no wonder your baby acted this way.
My 11 month old is a social butterfly but if someone she didn't know at all picked her up she would cry and want to come back to me
