Weaning

How are people getting on with baby led weaning? We’re on day 4 (my baby is 6months 3 days) but my baby is not actually eating anything, he takes some off the spoon but a lot seems to come out again - I believe this is normal to begin with but I’m wondering is there a cut off and when should I start to worry about his food intake if it doesn’t pick up? We’re using the Charlotte Stirling-Reed book so it’s all veg to begin with. I’m starting to wonder if I offered a porridge would he take more of it. Thanks

Keep persevering! Took a couple of weeks for our son to start properly swallowing the food! Lots of smiles and positive voices and they’ll get there eventually!

my 4 year old didn’t start properly eating till he was one! he’s fine now and eats lots of different things! they say food before 1 is just for fun!

With my first he played with it a lot like a toy, probably for about a month or so. After a month he’d shown more interest in actually eating and swallowing it. I know the general rule is that until 1, it’s all about practice and getting used to foods, and not so much about how much they are eating.. so I wouldn’t be concerned. As the weeks go on they will realise its food and what to do with it and you’ll notice progress x

Start worrying at maybe like 14 months 🥲 the aim isn’t to fill them up, like others have said it’s exploration and familiarity at this stage x

Curious if there's any difference with this. Has your child/ you (if your child isn't school age yet) experienced bullying?

I know it's likely everywhere but I can't homeschool with my career and nervous about my daughter starting school.

Help

I just wondered if anyone else is feeling the same way- I love my baby sooo so much and feel guilty writing this but I just don’t know if I love every part, I get sad when I’m alone and almost dread taking care of him myself even though he’s pretty easy going! I constantly plan things and never really have time at home with him alone. I feel selfish and just constantly wanting to be with adults.
I had a really busy job and I’m missing having the working life but also I know when I start to go back to work I’ll feel guilty and sad this part is over. I’m also suffering with PPA and trying to get help (having to wait a full month to talk to someone).
I also worry I haven’t bonded with him, like what does that even look like? I never breastfed which also makes me feel guilty.
I’m just having a hard time feeling happy in this stage I guess. It’s so confusing!!!

How are we entertaining our 5 month olds?

My little one can crawl and roll but not sit yet and entertaining him is getting quite difficult. I’m struggling to also go to get something without him rolling half way across the room and banging his head. I’m struggling to entertain him as he’ll no longer lie and bat toys but he’s not at the point of playing with the next stage up toy. Along with my 2.5 year old jumping off sofas I’m knackered just stopping them both from hurting themselves and wondering what toys are entertaining your 5 month olds?
