Hi all, I’m now 41 weeks and baby girl is being stubborn and not showing any signs of coming yet. I have refused an induction as I just can’t get on board with it but now have a C section as my plan B! However I have spent my whole pregnancy not thinking about going through this so wondering if there’s anything essential you would recommend to have prepared / or any advice if I end up getting one 🙏🏽

Oh, I'm against c section for many reasons unless it's the last option. Can I ask why no to induction? Because induction most of the time leads to a perfectly fine labour, in some cases it would lead to a c section but atleast you have gone through trying another route first? Also did you know you could get sweeps? I guess that is a form of induction but it's more gentle and will stop you going through the whole induction process if it works xx

High waisted panties and comfy clothes that won't rub on the scar.
I did a bunch of meal prep for lunch, dinner and snacks which were amazing to have (although not C section specific!)

I don’t like the interventions of an induction and forcing your body into something it’s not ready for. It’s also a lot more unknowns and uncertainty with labour potentially being prolonged. Sweeps can be useful if you’re already showing signs of labour however most don’t actually work with some women having multiple.

I was exactly the same and didn't want an induction. Started to labour and ended uo with an emergency/electice section middle of the night as they wanted to induce me etc. I have to say it was a lovely experience and I had not prepared anything extra. It can be hard initially to pick baby uo post section re leaning over etc so having partner/family around was essential. Take pain relief they offer etc xx

I had a c section, bring a big water bottle with you, it’s a lot easier than getting someone to fetch you a jug. Also get high waisted loose underwear and scrap the pj set and get a big t shirt or a nightie. People will check your catheter and how you are bleeding it’s a lot easier and more comfortable on the stomach. Get a caddy for the bedroom and downstairs, you are not going to want to get up all the time( have everything on hand) try to prop yourself up to sleep because the pain of getting up from lying down is a nightmare ( not to scare you). Take as much time as you need to recover and I promise if you take the medication and take it easy it makes it more comfortable and easier.

I was induced and ended up having an emergency c section. I would say lots of pillows to prop yourself up, high waist knickers, loads of rest - don’t over do it or you’ll feel it! And just stay on top of your pain meds. You’ll be fine if you have one and surprised how well your body can cope x

Something handy i found after my C was tying a bed sheet to the end of your bed at home so you had something to use to pull yourself up if needed when getting out of bed/ in the middle of the night etc. It saves you having to use your core muscles as you're using your arms, I did see it on FB and can honestly say it really worked for me!
Plus, hopefully this helps - I had to have a planned C after I had an allergic reaction to my induction, I was terrified, however again I can say I felt nowhere near as bad after my C as I thought I would! Home after 24 hours and the recovery wasn't bad at all, the worst of it was trying to keep the scar clean and avoid infection. Other than that, I'm 3 weeks PP and genuinely feel back to normal, it isn't anywhere near as bad as I thought it was going to be, so you definitely can have positive experiences :) xo
