Pushing with epidural

I really debated having one but in the end went for it. I think it was given a little late for me as it meant I then missed my ‘time to push’ window and then got to the point where I couldn’t feel my contractions to know when to push.
My contractions were so painful it was so hard to sit still when being given it, but managed to as best I could. The area bruised and was painful and bruised for a good few weeks after.
I don’t necessarily regret having the epidural as was lovely to not be able to feel things that followed but did not enjoy the catheter being removed once I could feel things again and it irritated my urethra so made going for a week after removal a bit stingy for a few days which was uncomfortable with all the other pains I had post birth.

I had an epidural and I found that I could still feel pressure (with no pain) each time I needed to push. Normally the doctor will tell you when you need to push based on feedback from the monitor/sensor they have on you to sense contractions, but I could feel them starting so I was the one dictating the pushing to the docs. I don’t think I could have done it without the epidural to be honest.

The girl that put it in, it must have moved because she was giving me it but it wasn’t taking, so I had them take it out and redo it. It was beautiful then. I rolled over and took a nap. Time for pushing, I couldn’t feel a thing. The nurses held my stomach and told me when a contraction was happening and when to push. I was so thirsty af though ahaha. I had them grabbing me cups of water steady. Between each push I was taking a drink of water. The epidural was so excellent. I wouldn’t do it without 😂 why would I? Ahaha 🥳

I had an epidural and they sort of lessened it during the pushing phase in order to feel the contractions - the contractions of course painful but I don’t think it was the full amount of pain, I struggled with the pushing because the epidural was half working half not I couldn’t feel much in the area where baby was meant to come out if that makes sense so it made it difficult for me to know whether progress was being made with me pushing and during this struggle in the end opted for baby to be sunctioned out to help so needed the epidural topped up anyways x

I had epidural but it was too late, I could still feel when to push and feel my legs etc, I don’t know how much dilated i was when the epidural was given but I assume I must have been very dilated as the midwife said if your too dilated it won’t work

I got the epidural when I was 5cm dialated right before they broke my water and I’m glad I had it I had a pretty easy labor didn’t feel any of my contractions before I got the epidural I mainly got it for when I was pushing and I’m glad I did because I still felt some pressure and can only imagine how it would have felt without the epidural

I received the epidural at 5 cm dilated. By the time I got the epidural, my contractions were every painful and hard to sit through but as soon as that Medicine hit me, IMMEDIATE relief. The needle surprisingly didn’t hurt at all. I slept most of the time after getting the epidural. And then I felt pressure on my vag n I told the nurse. I was ready to go. They came in and they wouldn’t allow me to push any other way besides on my back and that gave me some trouble pushing her out. They almost made me do an emergency C-section but they used a vacuum device to help her come out. I didn’t feel the contractions, her coming out, the stitches, nothing.

Do not get an epidural! I had my first without and then second I had one which wasn’t planned but only got one because my birth plan didn’t go as planned at all and they treated me so badly at the hospital and 12h of intense pain later I gave in and couldn’t bear it anymore and I almost ended up having a c section. I didn’t feel anything when they told me to push everything was numb. I ended up having forceps and I will 100% do it without epidural if I had a third child. Not to mention epidural gave me intense and horrible headaches and back pain later on. Fact is also, most epidurals end up in C-section. Absolutely not worth it imo. With my first I gave birth at birth centre and I did hypnobirthing and birth g pool and it was truly an amazing magical birth experience
